This feels vulnerable to share, but it also feels important.

Over the last few years, I’ve lost over 50 pounds... that’s me in the hot pink top.

But the number isn’t really the story.

For a long time, I hid how much weight I had gained. As a nutritionist, that carried a lot of shame. I felt like I should have had all the answers, but my body was dealing with more than willpower or calories. Hormones, thyroid, stress, and life all played a role.

What changed wasn’t one perfect plan. It was a lot of pieces slowly coming together.

Barre, Pilates, walking, weights, hormone and thyroid support, and learning how to stay consistent while working around back and nerve pain.

The physical part mattered, but the mental part was just as big. Fitness became less about punishing my body and more about coming back to myself.

And community has been such a huge piece of that. Being in rooms like this, with people simply showing up, moving, laughing, and trying their best, makes the process feel less lonely.

This journey has been physical, mental, and hormonal. It hasn’t been quick or perfect, but I feel stronger, healthier, more grounded, and finally like my body is working with me again. 💗🩰🦋

Food, stress, sleep, movement, and consistency all send signals to your body.

Some of the biggest shifts for me didn’t come from extremes. They came from getting the basics right over and over again and learning what my body needed, not what the hype was saying I needed.

• Eating enough protein and veggies instead of under-eating
• Supporting blood sugar instead of riding crashes
• Moving my body consistently in ways I could actually sustain
• Addressing thyroid and hormone health instead of ignoring it
• Reducing stress where I could and being honest about what I couldn’t control

Our bodies are given the strength to respond when we start working with it instead of against it.

That shake at the barre doesn’t mean you’re weak. It’s actually the opposite and the longer you do barre the more you’ll envy the shake.

It’s your muscles being pushed to a level where strength happens. Fatigue, recruitment, your body adapting in real time.

Especially in midlife, this is exactly what you want.

We’re naturally losing muscle, stability, and bone density, and barre (also Pilates) goes straight after all of it without beating up your joints.

So if you’re shaking DON’T back off right away.
Stay in it a little longer. Breathe.

That’s where strength is actually being built. You are stronger than you realize!

My daughter’s wedding 🤍

These photos mean more to me than I expected.
Not because everything was perfect… but because I actually felt like myself. Present. Calm. Happy.

Not thinking about my body, not overthinking anything—just there for her.

The last decade has been a lot of change, and I didn’t always feel this way. So being able to show up like this, in a moment like this, meant everything.

Just really proud of her… and really grateful for this day.

Many women in their 40s and 50s assume new symptoms are just menopause.

Fatigue.
Brain fog.
Weight gain.
Sleep issues.
Mood changes.

But these symptoms also overlap with Hashimotos, the most common autoimmune thyroid condition.

The problem is that many thyroid screenings only check TSH, which can miss autoimmune thyroid disease completely.

This is why so many women feel like something is wrong even after being told everything looks “normal.”

Menopause and Hashimotos can happen at the same time.

If symptoms persist, it may be worth asking your doctor for a full thyroid panel.

I wrote more about the connection between menopause and Hashimotos on the blog.

Laughing in the kitchen. Cooking real food.
Holding each other accountable when it would be easier not to.

At this stage of life, it’s less about grand gestures and more about daily choices.
💪 Protein over pastries.
👩‍❤️‍👨 Walks and squats after dinner.
⛑️ Renovating beautiful spaces together.

We’re choosing strong, steady, and here for the long run.

This is my kind of Valentine!

2025 became the year I truly took my health back. Not through extremes or rules, but through variety. Pilates, barre, yoga, strength, movement I actually enjoy. Food I love. Cooking together.

I leaned into new challenges instead of fighting them.
Said yes to travel. NY. LA. Texas. Turkey. Germany.
New places, different perspectives, and a reminder that life expands when you let it.

Most of all, this year was about people.
Time with my family.
My best friend of a husband.
My adult kids and the privilege of watching them grow.
And a fitness community that kept me consistent, supported, and inspired. ❤️

Friends, laughter, full tables, and moments I’ll always come back to. Looking forward to what 2026 will bring!

Time is the one thing we never get back.
The older I get, the more I see that real strength is not just about pushing through. It’s about slowing down enough to be present for the moments that actually matter.

Quality time builds a different kind of muscle. The kind that shows up in how we love, how we listen, and how we grow through every season.

Strong women raise strong daughters by showing them that strength can be soft too.
