🚨 Air Quality Alert for Chelmsford 🚨
MassDEP has issued an Air Quality Alert for our area due to elevated levels of fine particulate matter (PM₂.₅), which can be produced by wildfire smoke and other sources of air pollution. These microscopic particles can travel deep into the respiratory system and may impact overall health, particularly for individuals with asthma, COPD, heart disease, older adults, children, and those who spend extended periods outdoors.
Residents are encouraged to reduce strenuous outdoor activities when possible, keep windows closed if smoke or haze is present, and consider using air conditioning or air filtration systems to improve indoor air quality. Anyone experiencing difficulty breathing, chest pain, or other concerning symptoms should seek medical attention.
Stay informed by monitoring local air quality conditions and forecasts at AirNow.gov. For medical emergencies, call 911.
