Tonight I find myself sitting in my girls room the night before a new school year. Both of my girls—8 and 11—were feeling a lot of anxiety—particularly the one about to start middle school. So I sat in their room while they fell asleep.

As a pediatric sleep NP, I talk a lot about routines, boundaries, and building independent sleep skills…and I still believe those things matter.

But there’s also space for connection, comfort, and doing what our kids need in the moment.

One night (or even a season) of extra support doesn’t erase the progress you’ve made. It just means you’re being responsive, not rigid.

Healthy sleep isn’t about doing everything perfectly. It’s about giving our kids the support they need and recognizing that what they need may look different tonight than it did yesterday.

You’re not failing if you show up. You’re parenting.

And sometimes, helping our kids feel safe enough to sleep is exactly what they need. ❤️

Looking for a fun Friday morning activity for your little one? Join us for 8 weeks of learning, playing, and connecting through stories, songs, sensory activities, themed play, and more! 🧸✨

⏰ 9:30–10 AM
💛 $20/class | $12.50 for a second child
🎶 Infant siblings 12 months & under attend FREE
