When teens speak about living with lipedema, there is often a common theme: they want to be understood.

Many describe feeling dismissed, misunderstood, or told their symptoms are simply related to weight. Others share how pain, body image concerns, and fear about the future affect their daily lives.

For parents, one of the most important first steps is listening—and believing.

Lipedema is a medical condition, not a reflection of effort or lifestyle. Early support, proper evaluation, and emotional understanding can make a meaningful difference.

Mental health affects every community—but not every community has equal access to care.

Bebe Moore Campbell National Minority Mental Health Awareness Month is a time to recognize the unique barriers many racial and ethnic minority communities continue to face, including limited access to quality mental health services, cultural stigma, discrimination, and a lack of awareness about available resources.

Raising awareness is only the beginning. Creating spaces where people feel seen, heard, and supported is how we move forward.

At Cultured Therapeutics®, we’re committed to compassionate, culturally responsive, patient-centered care because everyone deserves the opportunity to heal.

Hearing that your daughter has lipedema can feel overwhelming.

Many parents immediately ask, “What do we do now?”

The next steps are not about rushing into treatment. They are about creating a supportive, structured plan that addresses both physical symptoms and emotional well-being.

Early strategies often include symptom management, supportive care, and helping your daughter understand that this is a medical condition—not something she caused.

With the right guidance, families can move forward with clarity and confidence.

PTSD doesn’t define a person’s story—but it can shape how they experience the world.

Healing is deeply personal. It doesn’t mean pretending the past didn’t happen. It means finding new ways to move forward with compassion, support, and hope.

As PTSD Awareness Month comes to a close, we stand with those living with the lasting effects of trauma and recognize the courage it takes to seek healing.

At Cultured Therapeutics®, we believe every person deserves to feel heard, supported, and empowered throughout their mental health journey.

Many people associate lipedema with adult women, but the condition often begins during puberty. For teenage girls, symptoms can affect mobility, participation in sports, and emotional well-being at school.

Coaches, teachers, and school staff play an important role in supporting students who may be living with lipedema. High-impact activities can cause pain, compression garments are medical—not fashion—and body-shaming comments can have lasting mental health effects.

Understanding these realities helps create a more supportive environment for students navigating a chronic medical condition.

Not every headache is “just a headache.”

Migraines are one of the most misunderstood neurological conditions, and they can affect far more than physical pain. They can disrupt work, relationships, family time, and everyday moments.

In recognition of National Migraine & Headache Awareness Month, we’re sharing a few facts that may help you better understand migraines—and recognize when it’s time to pay closer attention to your symptoms.

Juneteenth is a celebration of freedom, resilience, and the enduring pursuit of equity.

It also serves as a reminder that meaningful progress includes ensuring every individual has access to compassionate, respectful, and equitable healthcare.

As a Black woman-founded and physician-led medical practice, we are proud to serve our community by creating an environment where patients feel heard, valued, and supported.

Today, we honor the past, celebrate the present, and remain hopeful for a healthier, more equitable future.

Happy Juneteenth.

Parents often notice something feels different before anyone else does.

If your daughter’s legs appear disproportionate compared to her torso, it may be worth taking a closer look. Lipedema often begins during adolescence and is frequently mistaken for typical weight gain.

Understanding the difference can help families seek appropriate evaluation earlier and avoid years of confusion or dismissal.

If the signs in this video feel familiar, a professional evaluation may help provide clarity.

Did you know that men are less likely to ask for help when it comes to mental health?

Unfortunately, delaying care can lead to prolonged suffering and affect overall well-being.

For Black men, the disparities are even more concerning:

• Black men are 20% more likely to experience serious mental health conditions compared to the general population.
• Yet only one in three Black men who need mental health care receive it.
• Many also face additional barriers, including discrimination, socioeconomic challenges, and limited access to quality healthcare.

This Men’s Health Month, let’s continue breaking the stigma surrounding mental health.

Asking for help isn’t a sign of weakness. It’s a sign of strength.
