📊 Our 2025-2026 Annual Report is here!

This year, Community Free Clinic served more neighbors, providing care, hope, and support to uninsured Cabarrus County residents.

Some highlights from this year include:
✅ 903 patients served
✅ 4,933 appointments provided
✅ More than 300 volunteers contributing thousands of hours of service
✅ $4.1 million in avoided emergency department costs

Behind every number is a story of someone who gained access to healthcare, improved their health, and found support when they needed it most.

We're excited to be back at Davidson College connecting with students about volunteer opportunities at The Community Free Clinic!

Volunteer Alaa and Deputy Director Temeka Brantley spent time meeting students and sharing how they can gain meaningful hands-on experience, earn volunteer hours, and make a difference in our community. Students have the opportunity to explore a variety of roles and interests while serving patients and families.

Davidson College students have consistently been dedicated and impactful volunteers, and we're looking forward to welcoming a new group of students this year.

🎨✨ Last night, blank canvases became colorful expressions of creativity, connection, and healing.

As part of the Create and Connect / Crea y Conecta six-week series, Mental Health America hosted a free painting session at the Community Free Clinic, complete with free childcare to help make participation accessible for everyone.

Participants arrived to fresh, white canvases and left with unique works of art that reflected their creativity and personal experiences. More importantly, they spent time connecting with others in a welcoming, supportive environment.

Research shows that creative activities and social connection can reduce stress, boost emotional well-being, and support mental health. That's exactly what Create and Connect is all about.

This program is free and open to the community.

Care is more than seeing a doctor.

When "Albert" (name changed for privacy) suffered a stroke, everything changed overnight. After a month in the hospital, Albert returned home facing left-sided paralysis and a long road to recovery. He needed ongoing physical therapy, occupational therapy, medications, and specialized care.

For Albert's family, the challenge wasn't just medical. It was financial. As everyday expenses continued to pile up, the cost of treatment threatened to put essential care out of reach.

That's where the the Clinic's safety net program - called HealthNet Cabarrus - stepped in.

Our Patient Services team works with area medical providers, hospital and community organization partners to provide referrals and resources.

With his Case Manager Leonelys Abreu's help, Albert was able to continue the therapies and medications that made his recovery possible. Today, he has progressed from being unable to walk to moving with a cane, and he has regained functional use of his left hand.

Stories like Albert's remind us that healthcare is about more than doctor visits. It's about ensuring patients can access the resources, treatment, and support they need to heal. It's about walking alongside families during life's most difficult moments and helping them find stability, dignity, and hope.

We are honored to be part of Albert's journey and grateful to his family for allowing us to share their story.
