So much to say about this photo… what do you see?
I see a newborn still attached to the umbilical cord and placenta, not being rushed to be separated. I see a mother making sure she feels comfortable with the cord being cut, and allowing dad and opportunity to cut the cord (a first for this dad of 2). I see a beautiful scar honoring the birth that came before and made her a mother.

I cannot put into words how precious these moments are… these first minutes of new life, embraced with so care. The warmth of the water, the warmth of mama’s chest, and dad right beside to comfort. So much love for this babe from their sweet parents and their village. 💛 P.S. how beautiful is that cord. 🥹
