Waxing 101 or a refresh on the how to’s and don’ts
Hair growth for waxing is about a grain of rice in length, that’s between 2-4 weeks of growth, can vary person to person.
Exfoliating is a must, exfoliate the day before your wax and resume 3 days after you get waxed. Exfoliating softens dead skin buildup preventing trapped and ingrown hairs.
Wear loose clothes (preferably natural fibers) to prevent irritation. Tight clothes on fresh waxed skin can be uncomfortable and irritate the skin.
The 24-48 hour rules
• no sweating or vigorous activities
• no tanning (bed, sun or spray)
• no submerging in water (baths, pools or lakes)
•••• yes you can shower••••
• no shaving… ever 😜 but especially when waxing
After care use, bush balm is my go to for waxing aftercare. Oils for ingrowns hairs and prevention. Exfoliating sugar scrubs to remove any dead skin buildup, buildup can lead to hair getting trapped under the skin. Ouchie, we don’t want ingrowns!
I tell all clients this information, now after a while (year plus) your routine might look different or these rules might apply different but we pivot after we know your skin.
If you don’t follow the rules a few things might happen.
• folliculitis (tiny white bumps)
• ingrown hairs
• skin irritation
• even skin infections
Know and follow the rules and we’ll have amazing results!!
