🚧 Important Update at MaineHealth Franklin Hospital 🚧

Beginning Monday, June 8, the hospital's main entrance drive-through under the canopy will be closed to vehicle traffic. Patients and community members can still walk in through the main entrance for this initial phase of construction.

This temporary closure will allow us to improve accessibility by repaving a portion of the sidewalk and enlarging a side entrance in preparation for Phase Three of our Emergency Department modernization project.

Later this summer, Phase Three will bring more significant changes, including a temporary closure of the hospital's main entrance for approximately three months while work begins on a new Emergency Department entrance and waiting area and repairs are made to the drive-through canopy.

We know these changes will affect traffic flow, parking, and wayfinding. We'll continue sharing updates and providing clear signage to help patients and visitors navigate the campus.

Thank you for your patience as we continue investing in improvements for our community.

Congratulations to the 15 students who recently completed the Rural Health Care Career Scholarship Program!

On May 28, Franklin Hospital recognized scholars from several local high schools during the program's award ceremony. Over the course of the program, students participated in monthly sessions focused on self-advocacy, résumé writing, interview preparation, financial literacy, secondary education pathways and career exploration.

The ceremony honored their hard work, curiosity and commitment to learning and highlighted the importance of investing in the next generation of health care professional. We look forward to seeing where their future journeys in health care may lead.

At MaineHealth, we are proud to support Pride Month and affirm that living authentically is vital to physical and emotional well-being.

During Franklin Hospital's Pride flag-raising ceremony, Deborah Burchfield, DNP, shared, "Let this flag remind us of a simple but powerful truth: everyone deserves health care that is safe, affirming, and equitable."

As we raise the Pride flag, we reaffirm our ongoing commitment to fostering a health care environment where everyone belongs.

Franklin Hospital is piloting virtual reality (VR) learning for nursing education!

Our Education Department is currently using VR simulation scenarios with new graduate nurses to help strengthen assessment skills, interventions, communication, and clinical decision-making in a realistic, hands-on learning environment.

The pilot includes scenarios across a variety of care settings, including MedSurg, OB, pediatrics, ED, and OR. The VR headsets are on loan from the MaineHealth Simulation Center as the team explores new and innovative ways to support learning and professional development.
