Labor Day. And the irony is not lost on me. 🤍

Today the country honors workers. Today I honor the labor that does not get a federal holiday.

The labor of birth. The labor of feeding through the night. The labor of advocating in rooms that do not always listen. The labor of partner-supporting through it all.

Today, a few things from me:

✨ If you're pregnant and exhausted, rest. The rest is also the work.
✨ If you're postpartum and depleted, please ask for help.
✨ If you're a birth worker or lactation provider, thank you. I see you.
✨ If you're a partner who's been showing up, that counts.

The Neurodivergent in Labor blog just went live. Here's who I wrote it for. 🧠

For the autistic mama who has been masking through every prenatal appointment and is exhausted.

Lactation for neurodivergent parents. The gap we do not talk about. 🧠

If you're neurodivergent and feeding a baby, you may notice things other parents do not.

The sensory load of feeding can hit harder. Schedule unpredictability dysregulates. Unsolicited advice lands twice as loud.

What helps:

✨ Sensory accommodations during feeds (a specific chair, blanket, white noise, low lights)
✨ A feeding log you can show, instead of having to explain verbally
✨ Permission to combo feed without guilt
✨ A lactation provider who knows the ND piece, not just the latch
