👣 IT STARTS WITH THE FEET

Elly’s next phase of learning is taking her into Structural Integration, and we’re starting at the foundation.

The feet.

But here’s the important part: we may start with the feet, but we’re watching the whole body.

How do the feet meet the floor?
Where does the weight travel?
What happens at the ankles and knees?
What are the hips doing?
What changes when the body begins to move?

Elly is learning to observe first, notice patterns, feel what the tissues are telling her, and then begin connecting those clues.

Because a foot isn’t just a foot.

It’s part of a moving, connected human being. 💜

And sometimes changing what happens at the foundation creates a ripple much farther up the chain.

This is the fun part of her externship: she’s not only adding techniques to her toolbox anymore.

She’s learning how to think with her hands. 🔎👣

ELLY’S STUDENT EXTERNSHIP: WHAT SHE’S LEARNING NEXT 👣

Elly is beginning to learn Structural Integration for the lower body.

In simple terms, that means she’s learning to look at how the body connects from the ground up.

Step by step, she’s beginning to explore:

1. The feet
How they meet the floor and help support the rest of the body.
2. The lower legs
How tension through the calves and lower legs can influence movement.
3. The knees
How the joints above and below can affect what happens here.
4. The hips and pelvis
How they help organize movement through the whole lower body.
5. The bigger picture
Instead of only working where someone feels tight, she’s learning to follow the connections.

This part of her training is all about slowing down, observing, feeling what the tissues are doing, and learning how one area can influence another.

One layer at a time. One connection at a time. 💜

🔥 NEW TO ELLY’S STUDENT EXTERNSHIP: SCIATICA-FOCUSED BODYWORK

That ache in the low back or hip…
The discomfort traveling through the glute and down the leg…
That feeling that makes sitting, standing or getting comfortable a whole production? 😬

Elly has now added sciatica-focused bodywork to the skills she’s developing during her massage therapy externship.

And this one is a perfect example of why we don’t always chase the spot that’s yelling the loudest.

Her session may include work through the low back, hips, glutes and surrounding tissues, looking at areas of tension that may be contributing to how the body is moving and feeling.

Because sometimes the complaint is in the leg…
but the conversation started somewhere else. 🔎

This is what Elly’s externship is becoming: taking what she’s learned in school, working with real people and learning how to connect the pieces rather than simply following a routine.

My heart is overflowing.

Healing Elements has always been more than a business to me. It’s been a calling, a place of learning, healing, and growth. Watching Elly step into that calling feels like watching Healing Elements 2.0 take root. Not a copy of my journey, but the next generation writing her own chapter.

There is something incredibly special about passing along not just techniques, but values… compassion, professionalism, curiosity, and the privilege of caring for another human being.

The next generation has arrived, and this Nana couldn’t be prouder. 💚
