People pleasing is often a way of managing other people’s emotions, keeping the peace by sacrificing your own needs in the process. It might feel like kindness, but it’s really an attempt to control how others feel or react, which can lead to resentment and burnout. If you find yourself surrounded by people pleasers, ask yourself—are they really the problem, or is there something in you that benefits from them staying that way?
