You can have empathy for someone’s story while still honoring your own experience.

Understanding someone’s behavior may help you make sense of what happened, but it doesn’t erase the impact it had on you.

You’re allowed to have compassion and boundaries.
You’re allowed to understand and say no.
You’re allowed to forgive and choose distance.

Healing doesn’t require you to excuse what hurt you. 🤍

Looking for your next meaningful read?

Books can offer perspective, teach healthy coping strategies, and remind us that we’re not alone in what we’re experiencing. While reading isn’t a substitute for therapy, it can be a powerful tool for personal growth and emotional wellness.

Here are five books therapists often recommend for building resilience, practicing self-compassion, setting healthy boundaries, and staying grounded through life’s challenges.

BIPOC Mental Health Month is a time to raise awareness of the unique experiences that Black, Indigenous, and People of Color may face, including stigma, systemic barriers, cultural expectations, and disparities in access to quality mental health services.

Seeking help is a sign of strength, not weakness.

This month, let’s commit to:
🌿 Breaking the stigma surrounding mental health.
🌿 Encouraging open, honest conversations.
🌿 Supporting culturally responsive care.
🌿 Reminding one another that healing is possible and no one has to face life’s challenges alone.

At GoldStar Counseling & Wellness Center, we believe every individual deserves to feel seen, heard, respected, and supported on their mental health journey.

This month, choose yourself a little more. Protect your peace, nurture your mind, and remember that every small step forward matters.

From all of us at GoldStar Counseling & Wellness Center, we wish you a July filled with hope, healing, and new beginnings. đź’›

Today, we honor those who came before us, celebrate the progress made, and continue working toward a future where everyone can thrive.

Summer can be a time for rest, fun, and new experiences—but the transition from the structure of school to the flexibility of summer can also bring challenges for children and teens.

Remember, emotional wellness doesn’t take a summer vacation. Supporting your child’s mental health now can help them feel more confident, connected, and prepared for the upcoming school year.

📞 If your child or teen is struggling, GoldStar Counseling & Wellness Center is here to help. Our team provides compassionate support to help young people navigate life’s transitions and build healthy coping skills.

Fathers experience stress, anxiety, grief, burnout, and other emotional challenges just like anyone else. However, societal expectations can sometimes make it difficult for men to express their feelings or seek support when they need it.

Prioritizing emotional wellness helps fathers:
✨ Build stronger relationships with their children and loved ones
✨ Manage stress in healthy ways
✨ Improve communication and emotional connection
✨ Model healthy coping skills for their children
✨ Reduce the risk of anxiety, depression, and burnout

Taking care of your mental health isn’t a sign of weakness—it’s an act of strength and self-care. Whether it’s talking to a trusted friend, practicing mindfulness, seeking therapy, or simply making time to recharge, every step toward emotional wellness matters.

This Father’s Day season, let’s celebrate fathers not only for what they do, but also support them in caring for their emotional well-being.

đź’™ Fathers deserve support, too.
