Nurses are outraged by the DOE’s decision to strip “professional” status from our field. After years of rigorous study, clinical training and sacrifice — not to mention pandemic‐level burnout — this feels like a slap in the face. We’ve earned advanced degrees and proven expertise in crises, yet this move suggests our profession doesn’t matter. One nurse with a Master’s degree called it outright disrespectful: “I cannot believe that you would disrespect our profession!” . Nursing leaders warn it “disregards decades of progress toward parity across the health professions” . We demand recognition and respect – the future of healthcare depends on honoring nurses’ education and dedication. Help us stand up for nurses — our nation’s health depends on it.

It's day 29 of the federal government shutdown — and today, thousands of civilian federal employees will miss their first full paychecks, including nearly 23,000 living in New Jersey.

As the shutdown continues, the impact is spreading beyond the federal workforce. Without a government funding agreement, SNAP benefits will stop on November 1. That means millions of Americans will lose access to the food assistance they need. In New Jersey alone, close to 850,000 residents rely on SNAP to help put food on the table.

At CFBNJ, we’re preparing for a surge in need — because hunger doesn’t wait for paychecks or politics. Please join us in standing with federal workers and families across the state. Donate, volunteer, and advocate for solutions that keep food on every table.
