If you still see those staghorn sumac berries then pick them and turn them into lemonade. You need about 2.5 cups of berries for 2 quarts of water. Cover them with water and let it soak for 24 hours. After that strain them, add lemon juice from 2 lemons, and sweetener of your choice. Enjoy!

I hope it will be ready after a week and good to enjoy.
It looked very delicious tonight.

Fall is the time to make some sauerkraut. I really love sauerkraut no matter if it is cooked or raw. But my favorite one is with apples. That one I could eat a whole jar in one sitting.
When I moved here I was the only one in my family who enjoyed sauerkraut. My husband hated it. And when we had kids they didn't like it too. So I decided to start to make it myself in the way I was taught to make it. And my husband's opinion changed and so the kids'. He started to like mine and kids liked it too. Sometimes we eat raw sauerkraut for breakfast with eggs! And it is good - tasty and good for the guts.

My family is not the only one who has started to like it. There are people who have attended my sauerkraut making workshop and have started to like sauerkraut. It is simple but good.

I can help you to learn to make it and enjoy it too. And most important, your gut will be thankful.
Check under the events for more info.

Would you like to learn to make sauerkraut? If you make it what is your favorite sauerkraut?

These are common garden herbs that most of us grow in pur gardens. Pick them and keep them in your medicinal cabinet for this winter.
✅Oregano. Keep it for use when colds are in the begining stage - sore throat, cough, building up fever.
✅ Thyme. Use in steams for runny or stuffed nose.
✅ Sage. Great for sore throat in gargles or sprays, use for building up fever.
✅ Lemon balm. Use for cooling off when breaking fever.
✅ Mint. Use for breaking fever.

Mostly I use them in the tea. But some can be used in steams, syrups, and brith too.

Which garden herbs would you qdd to the list?

This semester I am teaching in our co-op Chemistry with Nature. And we did acids and bases.
For todays lesson we made litmus water using blue butterfly pea. We had some experiments to see the changes of blue water color with different liquids like lemon juice, milk, magnesium drops, liquid soap, coffee, and not liquid baking soda. Colors went from purple to blue to pink to blue and ended up with very nice green.
And as the last one we got to make lavender lemonade where simple lavender syrup was colored blue from blue butterfly peas. At the end we had pink lemonade to taste.
I think we had a great time. But most important was to see that nature and plants can be amazing and we can use them in all kinds of ways.
