Most people start with the salad. It feels like the healthy choice - the light, leafy beginning that sets the tone for the rest of the meal. But when digestion is sluggish or sensitive, that first bite of raw greens can sometimes be the very thing that slows everything down.
Raw vegetables are full of fiber, yes. But theyâre also cold, rough, and energetically contracting. That might not sound like much, but your gut notices. Especially if youâre already dealing with bloating, irregularity, or that heavy, unsettled feeling after meals.
In many traditional food cultures, salads or raw vegetables are served toward the end of the meal, not the beginning. Not because the science was laid out in studies but because people noticed what felt better. Warmer foods like soups, broths, stews, or lightly cooked vegetables come first, helping the digestive fire wake up and work efficiently. Only then do the raw foods arrive when the body is more prepared to handle them.
For clients who feel frustrated by persistent bloating, this single shift often brings surprising relief. Itâs not about eliminating anything. Itâs about rearranging, tuning into how food lands in the body, not just whatâs on the plate, but when and in what order.
It can feel strange at first, flipping that salad from starter to side. But your gut might breathe a little easier. You might, too. :)
If youâve been doing all the ârightâ things and still feel like your digestion is off, itâs good to look deeper. Sometimes, itâs not about what youâre eating - itâs about how and when. Thatâs where real change begins. And you donât have to figure it out on your own, I'm here to help.
