👀 August is Children’s Eye Health & Safety Month! 👓📚
As kids head back to school, it’s the perfect time to remember that clear eyesight is only one piece of healthy vision.
Children rely on their visual system every day to read, write, focus, track across a page, use a computer, play sports, and learn. And because kids don’t always realize when their vision isn’t working efficiently, they may not tell you something is wrong.
Signs that may warrant a closer look include:
👁️ Frequent headaches or eye strain
📖 Losing their place or skipping words while reading
✏️ Avoiding reading or other near work
👀 Closing or covering one eye
📚 Difficulty maintaining attention during schoolwork
📝 Trouble copying from the board
🤓 Holding books or devices unusually close
⚾ Difficulty with hand-eye coordination
😴 Becoming tired quickly during reading or homework
A child can see 20/20 and still have a vision problem that affects learning and comfort.
This Children’s Eye Health & Safety Month, make comprehensive eye care part of your back-to-school checklist! ❤️
