BWWDAY SPOKEN WORD ARTIST SPOTLIGHT: NICHELLE NICHOLS! ✨
Some voices don’t just speak—they MOVE you.
We’re honored to welcome Nichelle Nichols back to big stage on Saturday, October 3rd as our featured Spoken Word Artist at the 18th Annual Black Women's Wellness Day Opening Program & Keynote Luncheon!
A gifted and dynamic poet, educator, leader, speaker, facilitator, and Wisconsin native, Nichelle has spent more than two decades using her voice and leadership to advance equity, elevate community, and create spaces where families and communities can thrive. Nichelle has led and served across the nonprofit, public, and community sectors, advancing equity, strengthening families and communities, developing leaders, elevating community and youth voices, and helping institutions turn commitments to equity into meaningful action.
Her leadership has advanced community-centered change within the Madison Metropolitan School District, serving community through elected leadership on the MMSD Board of Education, including as former Board President, and serving as a past president of the Madison Alumnae Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated®. Today, Nichelle brings her experience to leaders, districts, and communities across the country—continuing a career centered on bringing people together, shifting systems, and creating spaces where people feel seen, valued, and empowered to thrive.
But at BWWDAY, we get to experience another powerful dimension of Nichelle: the artist. Through words that affirm, heal, challenge and inspire, she reminds us of the power of our stories—and the power of our voices.
Nichelle knows the power of words to ground us, to move us, to unite us -- and we can’t wait to experience what she brings to the BWWDAY stage this year!
Bring your sister, your auntie, your neighbor, your friend——and join us on Saturday, October 3!
