✨ Instructor Spotlight: Meet Kasey Rose 💛
Ask Kasey Rose to pick her favorite way to move, and she'll laugh. "My moves are like my children," she jokes. "There is no way I could ever pick a favorite!" Or, as she admits, her favorite is whichever one she's doing at the moment.
That pure joy of moving is exactly what Kasey brings to Gather Pilates, and we feel so lucky to have her on our team. She teaches because moving is her favorite thing to do, and she wants every one of you to love it as much as she does. Kasey's energy in the studio is genuinely magnetic — and the way she approaches movement reflects everything Gather believes in: balanced, healthy movement for every body.
Her everyday move is walking. In her "barefoot shoes," Kasey goes up, down, over, around, and through. She seeks out new terrain and ground textures. She walks in hot, cold, and perfect weather, with friends, loved ones, pets, and the wild creatures of Idaho. She hurries and she saunters. She won't claim to swagger, but she'll happily tell you she holds herself pretty well. 😄
A few of her other go-tos:
- Lying on the floor and pulling her legs in, letting that one simple movement inspire all kinds of shapes
- Getting on her hands and knees to move her spine in every direction. It starts out stiff, then slowly yields until she's ready for more movement (and more life!)
It wasn't always this way. Kasey calls herself a "recovering exerciser." For years, a workout only counted if she was sweating, breathing hard, and sore the next day. That approach wasn't sustainable. By her 40s, she found herself bound by pain and limited mobility, and every workout became a tedious list of physical therapy exercises.
Then she discovered biomechanics. She learned which movement habits were causing damage and how to rebuild her strength and mobility. She started giving her body time to recover between sessions. Most importantly, she refused to believe that age was what held her back. Instead, she learned how to move in ways that last.
Now she gets to share that with others. Kasey watches how people move and sees how those habits show up in their posture. She gets so excited to help clients trace their pain back to everyday patterns, then swap those patterns for healthier, more balanced ones.
The results speak for themselves:
💛 D, a 73-year-old client, came to Kasey with an excited "watch this!" and showed off getting up from the floor using a lunge. When they first started working together, she had only one way to rise.
💛 After attending a retreat with Kasey, another client wrote that she hears Kasey's voice every time she stands at her desk, stands at her kitchen counter, or goes for a walk. The hip pain she'd been feeling is gone.
💛 K, a client in her late 60s, had already had two knee replacements and was working through hip pain. Her knees had always fallen in, and no one had ever given her corrective exercises. Once she learned how to move better, she started getting stronger. She'd always say, "Why didn't anyone ever tell me? I just didn't know!"
"It really does work, and we really all can do so much to take care of ourselves," Kasey says.
She always comes back to the words of Maya Angelou, and we think they sum her up beautifully:
"When we know better, we do better." ✨
