Team Spotlight: Meet Lindsay Wilston, Patient Transport Aide
Lindsay joined Orleans Community Health at Medina Memorial Hospital in July 2025 as a Patient Transport Aide, bringing with her 20 years of experience as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA). She lives in Albion with her husband and four daughters.
“I’ve been an aide for 20 years. Taking care of people is all I know how to do,” Lindsay said. “My husband jokes that I was just born to care for people. I honestly can’t picture myself doing anything else.”
Lindsay plays an important role in caring for patients in our Transitional Care Unit/Subacute Rehab (TCU) and residents of North Wing, our skilled nursing facility. When someone needs a specialty appointment outside the hospital, Lindsay helps coordinate the appointment and accompanies them throughout the trip.
Having transportation available can remove a significant concern for patients and families. Medina Memorial Hospital’s lift-equipped van allows patients who use wheelchairs to travel comfortably without needing to transfer into a vehicle.
But Lindsay’s role involves much more than transportation. She makes sure patients have the necessary paperwork, stays with them throughout their appointment, provides emotional support, helps ask questions and advocates for their needs.
“In this position, I get the best of both worlds. I get to care for them, but I also get to play a role in their healing while they are here with us.”
Outside of work, Lindsay enjoys deer hunting and is a self-taught aspiring tattoo artist.
As an Albion resident, she also understands the importance of having healthcare close to home.
“Having a small-town rural community hospital is rare, and it’s truly a blessing to have one in our community,” Lindsay said. “People don’t really understand how important it is until there isn’t one.”
