How long does food stay in your stomach?

Most people have no idea how long food actually stays in their body. And it matters more than you think.

Because different foods require different enzymes and times to be digested. 🥑+ 🍉 = ❌

This means if you combine foods that digest at different speeds or eat a fast-digesting food after a slow-digesting food, it causes chaos in your digestive tract, leading to side effects like…

• bloating
• gas
• water retention
• heaviness
• lack of energy
• impaired nutrient absorption
• cravings
• increased fat storage

How I easily get 2400 calories a day on a raw vegan diet 🌱…

I’ve been a raw vegan for nearly 3 years and through this lifestyle I was able to completely recover from my eating disorder, and it has helped me to feel confident in my body without restriction.

I am currently in the best shape and health of my life and love this lifestyle more and more.

One of the most frequently asked questions I get is
“How do you get enough calories & nutrients?”
You can easily meet all your requirements on a raw vegan diet
and this shows you how I do it. 🍋

What I ate this day:
🌱 Celery Juice
🍉 Watermelon
🍏 Dates
🌿 Fresh Garden Salad

Some days I might eat more than that - I always listen to my body 🙏🏻

If you think you need less than 1500 calories a day to stay lean, listen carefully:

If you’re only able to maintain your body on the same amount of food as a toddler, that is not normal. And it’s a sign that your body has adapted to undernourishment.

Important:‼️

You don’t fix a slow metabolism by eating less.
You fix it by eating in a way that naturally supports a FAST metabolism.

Here’s where you can start:

1. Start your mornings with lemon water + celery juice/ green juice 🌱🍋
2. Base your meals around fresh fruit (hydrating, satisfying & nutrient-rich) 🍉🍒
3. Keep fats lower (most people are eating far way more fat than they realize)
4. Focus on strength training (muscle burns more energy)💪🏻
5. Prioritize sleep & recovery (chronic stress impacts cravings, water retention, and digestion)

Being lean shouldn’t require obsession, starvation or counting every calorie.

When you learn how to work WITH your body,

Beautiful Beetroot Dressing 💗
Creamy, nourishing, and ready in 5 minutes!

Over my years of being raw, I’ve learnt that the key to truly enjoy large green salads every night is having a good dressing.

I love to keep my recipes light but satisfying, this way you can eat a lot and still feel & look your best! 🌱

Here’s the exact recipe:

1 lime, juiced
1 clove garlic
1/2 medium beet
1 small zucchini
1/2 cup cilantro
2 tbsp raw tahini
1/2 cup water
1 tsp pink salt

So much recovery advice focuses only on the mental side of healing. But your physical experience matters too. 🤍

Because if eating constantly leaves you feeling heavy, bloated, guilty, exhausted, and disconnected from your body, OF COURSE food still feels stressful.

One of the biggest shifts for me was discovering that food could actually make me feel GOOD after eating.

Not bloated and heavy, but light and energised.

That’s why raw food became such a powerful tool in healing my relationship with food.

Food stopped feeling like something that would hurt me 🤍

Reminder: a full stomach ≠ fat

In a perfect world, we’d all have six pack abs 24/7.
But eating food means your stomach is going to expand sometimes.

Your body digests it, uses it, and is grateful for the nourishment it gets. You are not suddenly “fat” because your stomach isn’t flat after eating.

Feeling full is normal - even on raw foods 🍉

I was diagnosed with anorexia at 11 years old.
At 12, I was hospitalised for the first time, at 23, I nearly lost my life.

We always tell ourselves we’re fine & that we can treat our bodies how we want - until the day it all comes crumbling down and you’re forced to to face the truth. 💔

For years, I tried everything to change the way I felt in my body.
Fat, ugly, bloated, heavy… a few words I would have used to describe myself.

Fast forward to my life today:
being my most confident self & feeling fully at ease in my body. 🤍

It still seems unreal sometimes and yet I see the same healing in the women I work with again and again.

We’ve been taught wrong.
