Stronger at the table. Stronger in our practice. 💪💼

The KPNAA Board of Directors worked tirelessly to fight for our practice at the bargaining table during negotiations. But the work doesn’t stop there—we can continue to strengthen our profession on a larger scale by staying engaged at both the state and local levels!

Here are a few ways to get involved and stay informed:
• CANA just wrapped up their Spring Virtual Meeting (May 30–31), with the Fall Meeting coming up October 23–25 in NorCal.
• AANA is gearing up for the Annual Congress this August.

Meet Rozely! 👋✨

We are thrilled to welcome Rozely Barbero as one of our newest KPNAA union representatives! A 2022 KPSA graduate, Rozely started her career at Kaiser Sunset before transitioning to her current practice at Kaiser Orange County.

Her passion for leadership was sparked during our last contract negotiations. Ready to bring a fresh perspective, Rozely stepped up to ensure member concerns are represented productively and to help shape the future of KPNAA for the newer generation of CRNAs. 🩺

Of all her achievements, Rozely’s absolute favorite is being a mom to her 1-year-old daughter. Off the clock, she also loves fitness, travel, hanging out with her dogs, and connecting with others. ✈️🐕

Meet KPNAA CRNA, Sera!👋🏻

For Sera, her 3 years as a CRNA have been a rewarding, ever-growing journey. She is incredibly grateful for the trust her patients, colleagues, and OR team place in her anesthesia care every day.

💉 Her Favorite Daily Moment:
Seeing nervous patients immediately relax and laugh at her "IV Tequila" joke! Because anesthesia has so many facets, she’s excited to see how her favorite daily moments evolve over the next 3, 5, and 10 years.

✨ Life Outside the OR:
When not with loved ones, Sera enjoys ballroom dancing, practicing makeup skills, and learning languages. As a Korean American fluent in English and Korean, her goal is to learn enough Chinese, Spanish, and Japanese to chat casually with her patients!

Voting is now open for the AANA Board of Directors, and the California Association of Nurse Anesthesiology is proud to support Jeffrey R. Darna, PhD, DNP, CRNA, ACNP-BC, FAANA, past CANA President, for AANA Director-at-Large.

California CRNAs are leaders in clinical practice, education, advocacy, and professional service. Yet it has been some time since California and the West Coast have had representation on the national AANA Board of Directors. This election is an important opportunity to ensure that California’s voice is heard at the national level.
Jeff has served CANA, California CRNAs, and the broader profession with steady, thoughtful, and experienced leadership. As a former CANA President, he understands our state’s priorities, the challenges facing CRNAs, and the importance of strong national representation.
