Yesterday was International Overdose Awareness Day, but our commitment to prevention, education, and support happens every single day. 💜✨
As healthcare professionals, we know that overdose is preventable—and spreading awareness saves lives. What to do if you suspect an overdose:
💜Call 911 immediately: Emergency medical help is critical—never wait to see if things improve.
💜Administer Naloxone (Narcan): Give a dose right away if available. It will not harm someone if they aren't actually experiencing an opioid overdose.
💜Keep them breathing: Perform rescue breathing or CPR until help arrives.
💜Position safely: If the person is unconscious but breathing, place them in the recovery position (on their side with their top knee bent) to prevent choking.
💜Stay until help arrives: Keep them calm, warm, and monitored until emergency personnel take over.
Knowledge, compassion, and action can save a life. 💜
