Important update for NJPNI families with Horizon NJ Health:

Effective August 4, 2026, NJPNI will no longer be participating with Horizon NJ Health and will be considered out-of-network unless a fair contract agreement is reached.

We understand how stressful insurance changes can be for families, especially when it may impact access to your child’s established care team. Parents and caregivers are encouraged to contact Horizon Member Services at 1-800-682-9090 and ask them to renegotiate a fair contract with NJPNI.

NJPNI will continue to provide medication refills for existing patients through August 30, 2026, and urgent medical needs or time-sensitive treatment situations will be reviewed individually to help support continuity of care.

Please review the attached letter for full details and next steps.
If you have questions, please call our office at 973-326-9000 and ask to speak with a billing representative.

Thank you for your understanding at this time.

Are you curious about how your child’s brain is really working?

At the New Jersey Pediatric Neuroscience Institute, we start with a qEEG brain map, a safe, noninvasive way to measure patterns in brain activity that may be connected to certain symptoms.
Think of it this way: qEEG helps map the brain, and neurofeedback helps train it.

Once the qEEG shows us what areas may need support, neurofeedback may be considered as part of a broader care plan for concerns such as headaches, sleep dysregulation, tics/Tourette’s, anxiety, ADHD, stress, OCD, mild autism-related concerns, depression, epilepsy, and learning difficulties. It looks exactly the same as the qEEG you see here, just a separate duty.

Neurofeedback is not one-size-fits-all, and it may not be appropriate for every patient. That is why qEEG testing is the first step, helping our providers better understand what may be happening and whether neurofeedback could be a good fit for your child’s needs.

Interested in learning more?
Ask your NJPNI provider about qEEG and neurofeedback, or call us at 973-326-9000 to start the conversation.

June is Migraine and Headache Awareness Month 💜

At NJPNI, we know headaches and migraines can affect a child’s school day, activities, sleep, mood, and overall quality of life.

This month, we are raising awareness about the importance of recognizing symptoms, identifying possible triggers, and seeking early evaluation when headaches become frequent or disruptive.

Our team is proud to support families with thoughtful, comprehensive care and guidance tailored to each child’s needs. 🫶

As a young pediatric neurosurgeon, I learned that the amount of radiation exposure each child sustains during a CT scan adds up over thier life...I really TRIED to limit CT scans in my young patients.

Every now and then, I see an older patient who in their lifetime had 20-40 CT scans....and now has a tumor.

PLEASE try to limit the number of CT scans! In an emergency situtation...yes, you may NEED a CT scan. But NOT for headaches without any other neurological symptom. Not for a tremor.

I would even suggest that sinus scans can be better done with MRI to see mucosal thickening or congestion.

Look at Image Gently for more information. See website above.

The Mission of Image Gently is Radiation Safety in Pediatric Imaging to improve safe and effective imaging care of children worldwide like: pediatric X ray imaging, x ray pediatrics, CT scan x ray, radiation from dental x rays.
