🚑 ECPR doesn’t start when the cannulas go in. It starts with recognition, response, communication, and coordination long before the patient reaches the ECMO team. Which link do you think gets overlooked most often?

At Integration Health, we’ve found that the strongest ECPR programs don’t just train the cannulation team, ut they build alignment across the entire system.

Through consulting, simulation-based training, and multidisciplinary education, we help hospitals identify gaps, strengthen processes, and ensure every team member understands their role in the ECPR pathway.

Where do you see the biggest opportunity for improvement?

Every July, a pretty unique thing happens in the perfusion community. Perfusionists from all over the country step away from busy programs, travel schedules, and call rotations to spend a few days learning from each other in Myrtle Beach.

We’re looking forward to exhibiting at the 4th Annual Critical Care Cardiology Education Summit (CCCES) June 3–5 at the University of Minnesota.

This year’s focus on bleeding and coagulopathy in the Cardiac ICU highlights one of the most complex and evolving areas in critical care today—especially for programs managing cardiogenic shock, pulmonary embolism, cardiac arrest, ECMO, and MCS patients.

CCCES continues to stand out by combining expert-led education with hands-on procedural training, small group discussions, and practical skill development designed to improve outcomes in the Cardiac ICU.

If you’re attending, be sure to connect with Glenn Grimes, BSN, RN, CCRN and Sheri Denmead from the Integration Health team. We’d love to talk about ECMO program development, training & simulation, and staffing & precepting support that help teams prepare for high-acuity cardiac patients.

Looking forward to great conversations and collaboration in Minneapolis.

🩸 In ECMO, one number rarely tells the whole story. Read: bit.ly/coagmonitor
A “therapeutic” lab value doesn’t always mean the patient is protected from clotting, and bleeding can still happen while thrombosis develops in the circuit. ACT, aPTT, anti-Xa, TEG/ROTEM, fibrinogen, platelet count, hemolysis markers… each test tells only part of the story.

This Integration Health blog breaks down:
• Why ECMO anticoagulation labs often disagree
• The strengths and limitations of ACT, aPTT, and anti-Xa
• Why multimodal monitoring matters
• How clinicians can better interpret the bigger coagulation picture

🇺🇸 Memorial Day reminds us that at the heart of freedom is service and sacrifice.

Today we remember and honor the brave men and women who gave their lives in service to our country. Their courage, selflessness, and commitment to something greater than themselves continue to inspire us.

One of the best parts of the expo has been the conversations with fellow exhibitors who are creating solutions, tools, and education that support the incredible work nurses do every day. The excitement, innovation, and commitment to critical care continue to inspire us.

🔥 Always a hot topic in ECMO: Recent pressures on heparin supply have prompted many ECMO programs to take a closer look at their anticoagulation protocols, but the conversation around alternatives is one worth having regardless of the current landscape.  Read the full Integration Health Blog: bit.ly/Hepbival
