What if some cases of postpartum depression and anxiety are actually Mother Hunger in disguise?

What if treatment in these cases needs to look a lot different?

What if there needs to be room for grief, loss, longing, and heartache?

What if we gave these mamas extra support postpartum?

Because I know a pregnant mama with Mother Hunger is at higher risk of struggling postpartum - but it doesn’t have to be this way. We can put extra supports in place to help these mamas thrive with their babies. ❤️

This is one of the things that hugely contributes to the experience of Mother Hunger - pediatricians telling mothers to let their babies cry-it-out. Telling mothers that they are “honoring” their babies by doing so.

Odd how other cultures respond to their babies throughout the night as the norm. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Odd how all our ancestors shared sleep. 🤷🏻‍♀️

So many mothers go against their instincts and intuition when told such things by their highly educated doctors.

The problem is speaking on infant sleep is out of scope for many pediatricians who might get a few hours on sleep in school.

Many of them have not pursued additional training on infant sleep and do not know the research.

A low nurture culture fails both mothers and babies.

What if women were guided on how to get the rest they need while also supporting their babies? How might that shift our culture?

Comment HEAL and I’ll send you my upcoming 10 week group container on Mothering with Mother Hunger. You can have a fulfilling, meaningful, and connected motherhood while also breaking these cycles of low nurture parenting.

I see too many mothers trying to white knuckle their way through motherhood.

You’re doing your best to break cycles and be different, but sometimes you’re feeling triggered and often times you’re feeling burned out too.

Part of the reason this happens is because crucial healing is missing.

You are still walking around with unmet childhood needs and the child inside you is screaming just as loudly, if not louder than the child/ren outside of you.

Part of my upcoming container is rewriting your attachment story through an Attachment Reset.

I will guide the group through a guided visualization of you receiving the very things you needed but did not receive growing up.

Why are so many in this generation looking for the wise elder woman?

Because we are seeking guidance that wasn’t received when it was needed most.

Early motherhood is a time when mothers need mothering. They need holding, they need guidance, but only if it comes out of wisdom.

Many mothers seek out these women because they have unmet needs from their own mothers.

There’s a name for this. It’s Mother Hunger, a term coined by Kelly McDaniel to name a deep attachment injury where a daughter did not receive enough nurture, protection, and/or guidance from her mother.

Comment HEAL and I’ll send you my 10-week group container on healing from Mother Hunger while breaking cycles.
