Some weeks are busy. Some weeks are unforgettable. This was one of those weeks. 🙌

This week was all about celebrating our athletes while also looking ahead to everything still to come.

Our Flurries Unified All Stars Cheerleading & Dance dancers wrapped up their season with an incredible showcase, welcoming more than 120 family members and friends to celebrate their accomplishments. From stretches and sa-shays to leaps and performances, our athletes took the floor with confidence and joy. We celebrated each dancer with trophies and, of course, finished the day with donuts!

Over on the baseball field, our Flutter Unified All Stars Athletics Flutter Squad athletes wrapped up their season with medals, popsicles, and plenty of smiles. Watching our athletes grow in confidence, make friends, and have fun is always what it’s all about.

While our programs were busy celebrating, James spent Saturday morning representing Flurries Unified All Stars at the Kennedy-Donovan Center Community Resource Fair, connecting with new families and sharing our mission of inclusion with the community.

Behind the scenes, we also began preparing for what’s next. This week we released interest forms for cheerleading, flag football, and volunteers as we continue planning for an exciting summer and fall season. We’re also working on something special for our junior volunteers and can’t wait to share more details soon!

As always, we are grateful for our athletes, families, volunteers, sponsors, and supporters. Because of you, we’re able to continue creating opportunities where every athlete belongs and every ability is celebrated.

It’s almost Saturday, and our favorite kind of weekend is finally here — a weekend dedicated to celebrating our athletes. ❤️

Tomorrow, we kick off the celebrations with our very first Flurries Unified All Stars Cheerleading & Dance Dance Showcase! We can’t wait for family and friends to see the performances our dancers have worked so hard on over the past several months. After the performances, we’ll celebrate our dancers with awards and, of course, some donuts.

Then on Sunday, it’s time to celebrate our Flutter Unified All Stars Athletics Flutter Squad Baseball players as they wrap up their season. We’ll recognize their hard work, growth, and accomplishments with awards before cooling off with popsicles and plenty of smiles.

From the dance studio to the baseball field, our athletes have spent this season learning new skills, building friendships, growing their confidence, and reminding us that there truly are countless possibilities when everyone is given the opportunity to shine.

We can’t wait to celebrate every dancer, every baseball player, and all of the memories that made this season so special. See you this weekend! ❤️

Two years ago, I had never been a cheerleader. I had never coached a sport. I had never run a nonprofit.

And yet, here we are.

One of the things we hear most often when people ask about volunteering is:

“I don’t know how to cheer.”
“I’ve never coached.”
“I don’t know anything about football.”
“I’ve never worked with kids with disabilities.”

The truth is… two years ago, neither did I.

Before Flurries, I had never run a nonprofit. I had never coached a cheerleading team. I wasn’t a cheerleader growing up. I’ve never played basketball. Most of what we’ve built over the last two years wasn’t because we were experts.

It was because we cared enough to show up.

What our athletes need most isn’t someone who knows every cheer motion, dance step, football play, or sports rule. They need people who are willing to be present. People willing to encourage them, celebrate their victories, help them when they need support, and believe in what they’re capable of accomplishing.

The skills can be learned. The rules can be taught. The confidence to step into something new comes from simply saying, “I’ll give it a try.”

Some of the most impactful volunteers we’ve had started with no experience at all. They just showed up, opened their hearts, and became part of something bigger than themselves.

As Flurries Unified All Stars Cheerleading & Dance and Flutter Unified All Stars Athletics continue to grow, we’re looking for more people who are willing to do exactly that.

You don’t need experience.

You don’t need to know how to cheer, dance, play football, baseball, or basketball.

You just need to be willing to show up for an athlete.

Because sometimes the people who make the biggest difference are the ones who simply decided to say yes to something new. ❤️

❤️ Weekly Gratitude ❤️

As we move closer to our end-of-season Dance Showcase and Baseball Flutter Cup, we’re reminded that when one season begins to wind down, another is already right around the corner.

This week, our Flurries Unified All Stars Cheerleading & Dance dancers wrapped up their final week of practice at Evolution Dance Company. We are so grateful to Amber and her team for opening their doors to us and providing a home for our dance program this season. What started as a new adventure quickly became something special, and we can’t wait to celebrate our dancers and all they’ve accomplished at next week’s showcase.

Our Flutter Unified All Stars Athletics baseball players battled the heat and took the field today, and we couldn’t be prouder. We’re starting to see great plays, strong throws, improved hitting techniques, and growing confidence each week. Watching our athletes develop new skills and seeing just how far they’ve come truly warms our hearts.

Behind the scenes, we’ve also been busy preparing our summer programs and creating new opportunities for athletes of all abilities. Every new program, every new team, and every new opportunity is only possible because of the incredible people willing to step forward and help.

Over the coming weeks, we’ll be sharing stories from some of our volunteers because we want people to know that volunteering with Flurries and Flutter isn’t about what you know. You don’t need experience in cheerleading, dance, baseball, football, or running a nonprofit. What matters is your willingness to show up, be present, and support a child.

We can promise you this: what you get out of it is worth every minute you put into it.

This week, we are grateful for those who have stepped up, those who choose to be present for our athletes, and those who truly embody our mission by believing that when we include all abilities, there are truly countless possibilities. Big things are happening at Flurries Unified All Stars, Inc. ❤️❄️

As we prepare for our summer programs, we are so excited to share all of the growth, new opportunities, and exciting announcements coming to our nonprofit. From athletics to cheerleading and beyond, we can’t wait for you to see what’s next!

Our cheerleading program has already begun sharing some exciting news for Season 3 with the addition of two new teams. Flurry Fury will provide our 18+ athletes of all abilities the opportunity to experience being part of a cheerleading team, while Lil’ Flurries Squad is designed for our youngest friends ages 3 and up, giving them the chance to build confidence, make friendships, and have fun on the cheer mat.

❤️ Weekly Gratitude ❤️

This week was spent celebrating… just not in our usual way. 🎓

Our President, Hannah, and Board Member, Victoria, both spent the week celebrating their children’s high school graduations! Between prom, senior activities, and graduation ceremonies, it was a week full of special memories and milestones. 🎓✨

Congratulations to Talan, who graduated from the HVAC/R program and has already joined the workforce as an HVAC Technician. Many of our families have seen Talan volunteering at various Flurries and Flutter activities and reading with Rie’s Readers over the years, and we couldn’t be more proud of him.

Congratulations also to Layla, who graduated from the Nursing Program and will be attending Curry College this fall as she continues her journey toward a nursing degree. Our dancers know Layla as one of the smiling faces helping lead classes each week, and we are so excited for her next adventure.

We are so proud of both Talan and Layla and all of the hard work that brought them to this moment. We can’t wait to see where their next chapters take them. ❤️

Behind the scenes, we were also busy preparing for a big month ahead — our June Dance Showcase, our Baseball Flutter Cup, and getting interest forms ready for our upcoming Flag Football and Season 3 Cheerleading programs. There is so much to look forward to, and we can’t wait to share more with all of you.

This weekend, our Flurries Unified All Stars Cheerleading & Dance dancers were back in the studio and our Flutter Unified All Stars Athletics baseball athletes were back on the field doing what they do best — learning, growing, and having fun.

Spending our weekends with our athletes is always one of our favorite things. Their smiles, friendships, and accomplishments — both big and small — remind us exactly why we do this.

As always, we are grateful for this community and for the opportunity to be part of so many special moments.

This week was the perfect mix of rest, recovery, dance, and dreaming about what’s next 💜

After such an incredible banquet weekend, this week was all about slowing down a little, recovering, and soaking in all the memories we made together 🥹

Our dancers were back in the studio this weekend and WOW did we have fun ✨
We spent time finishing our dances, sharing lots of smiles and laughs, and looking ahead to these next few weeks of polishing everything before our season-ending showcase and awards 💃❄️

Our baseball athletes had the weekend off to enjoy some much-needed rest and relaxation over the long weekend ⚾️☀️ Sometimes a quiet weekend is just as important as the busy ones.

This week, James attended the One SouthCoast networking event and made some wonderful new community connections for Flurries & Flutter. Watching more people learn about our mission and believe in what we’re building never gets old 💜

And while we’re soaking in these final weeks of some of our current seasons… we’re also starting to dream about what comes next 👀💜 We’re preparing for our summer Flutter Unified All Stars Athletics season, working through details for Season 3 of Flurries Unified All Stars Cheerleading & Dance,
and already have our competition list picked out ❄️✨

As always, we’re ending this week feeling grateful —
for the memories, the movement, the community support, and the people who continue to believe in inclusive spaces for ALL athletes.

It truly takes a village… and after our Flurries Unified All Stars Cheerleading & Dance cheerleading banquet this weekend, our hearts are so full of gratitude for ours 💜

There are so many people to thank because without their kindness, generosity, donations, and support, our banquet simply would not have been possible.

Some weeks are filled with moments we’ll never forget…and this was definitely one of them 💜

This entire week was spent preparing for our Flurries Unified All Stars Cheerleading & Dance cheerleading banquet alongside our friends at Southcoast Storm II— and wow… what an incredible day it turned out to be 🥹✨

From the beautiful sunshine, to the laughter, to watching our athletes be celebrated exactly as they deserve… our hearts are so full.

We have so many people to thank this week — our volunteers, coaches, families, sponsors, community partners, and every person who helped make this season and this banquet so special. Communities like this don’t happen by accident ❤️

And stay tuned… because we can’t wait to share some of the incredible ways businesses in our community showed up to support our athletes and help make banquet day so special 🥹✨

And then came Sunday… which means one thing around here: Flutter Unified All Stars Athletics baseball ⚾️🧡💙

It’s become one of the days we look forward to most each week — watching friendships grow, confidence build, and our athletes light up every time they take the field.

At baseball today, we also got to celebrate some of our cheerleaders who weren’t able to make it to banquet. Seeing their smiles as they received their awards filled our hearts in the best way 🥹💜

And can we talk about the weather finally breaking?! ☀️ After so many cold weekends, it felt extra special to spend both our banquet and baseball weekend surrounded by sunshine.

We missed our dancers terribly this weekend and can’t wait to be back in the studio together soon 💃❄️

It’s honestly hard to believe there’s only about a month left of our spring activities. Between celebrations, dance, and baseball… this season is flying by faster than we could’ve imagined.

And through every celebration, every field, every dance studio, every cheer mat and every moment in between… we’re reminded how grateful we are for this community and the purpose behind it all ❤️❄️
