Virgo season asks us to get precise with our care.

Virgo rules the digestive system, the small intricate workings of the body that keep everything else running, and the plants that align with this season reflect that same quiet, exacting devotion. Think bitters to support digestion, chamomile and fennel to soothe what’s been overworked, and the grounding discipline of a daily ritual practiced with care rather than perfection.

If this kind of plant and planet pairing speaks to you, now is a good time to go deeper. Whether you’re drawn to reading your own chart or want to understand how the stars and the seasons speak through the plants themselves, we have two paths for you this season.

Foundations of Astrology and As Above, So Below (our astro-herbalism course) are both $100 off through September 30th for anyone ready to learn the astrology of the plants. 🌾✨

Goodbye August! You were SO FULL. It’s kind of incredible how much we packed into one month. We learned, taught, played, made medicine, traveled, gathered with our herbal community, and welcomed so many new and familiar faces into the Twin Star tribe.

We started the month with our Twin Star staff retreat with Bekah bek, Tina Fable, and Jenna Jenna Faccenda, playing in the river, visiting local distilleries, and having a wonderful Twin Star teachers reunion, all while fully embracing our work hard, play hard philosophy.

Then we welcomed our very first Foundations of Herbalism 2024 group for a weeklong immersion with students from all over the country. We visited , Kestrel Herb Farm, and , made a ton of medicine, and learned from our wonderful guest teachers Lupo, , , and .

That same week, we launched our new Backyard Herbalism class with our friends at and welcomed another beautiful group of budding herbalists.

Our Level 1 students were blessed this month to visit the incredible for a field trip and had the pleasure of learning from our brilliant friend, botanist, and herbalist Marc Williams, Plants & Healers International.

We also spent a very full herbal weekend at the symposium, where we taught, laughed, learned, shared in community, and joined a panel on the impact of herbal mutual aid.

It was a very full month indeed, and in all the best ways. So much learning, connection, community, and plant medicine.

We’re slowing down just a bit for the next couple of weeks, but late September brings lots of beautiful offerings, including our Wild Foraged Apothecary class. We cannot wait to get back out into the fields and forests, gather medicine, and keep learning together.

Feeling grateful for all the energy August brought, and so looking forward to the September slowdown. Sending lots of love to you all.

Burnout doesn’t always announce itself loudly. Sometimes it’s quiet. We may still be showing up, still getting things done, still holding it all together on the outside. But underneath, something has gone dry, and no amount of sleep or self care seems to quite reach it.

Because burnout isn’t only physical. It can touch our sense of vitality, purpose, connection, and our capacity to meet what life is asking of us. Flower essences offer support in these deeper places.

They don’t ask us to push through or override what we’re feeling. They meet us gently in the emotional terrain beneath the exhaustion, helping us tend to what has been worn thin and find our way back to ourselves.

Swipe through to see some of our favorite flower essence allies for helping us cope with burnout.

We’re hosting a free webinar on Flower Essences for Burnout for anyone ready for a different kind of support. Link in bio to save your seat 🌾

One of the biggest takeaways from this weekend at the 36th American Herbalists Guild Symposium was just how imperative free, affordable, and accessible herbal healthcare, and the mutual aid projects that make it possible, are to the future of herbal medicine.

I had the honor of joining local herbalists I respect greatly for a panel about our collective experiences with free clinics, herbal mutual aid, and what it takes to bring this work into our communities. It was incredibly inspiring to have so many people come up afterward wanting to continue the conversation and asking or sharing how they could create something similar in their own communities.

For decades, herbalists, teachers, organizers, and practitioners have been building the skills, relationships, clinics, and networks that allow us to respond when our communities need us. This work doesn’t happen in isolation, and I’m deeply grateful for the people who continue to show up, serve, share what they’ve learned, and build what comes next.

I would love to see this conversation become a whole track, a full day intensive, or even a theme for an herbal conference. There is so much knowledge to share about growing and sustaining these projects and making herbal medicine more accessible.

And there was so much else to be grateful for this weekend. Teaching one of my favorite subjects, building deeper relationships for better clinical outcomes. My apprentices holding down the Twin Star booth. Seeing so many students, past and present. Time with old friends, colleagues, and teachers, and making new ones along the way.

Herbal medicine has always been rooted in relationship and community. This weekend was a gorgeous reminder to keep putting that into practice.

Here’s to the continued growth and blossoming of the Guild, our herbal communities, and this ancient herbal work. 🌿
Love to you all and many more. 🤍

Standing tall beneath the summer sky, sunflower has long been a plant that invites us to contemplate our relationship with the Sun, vitality, and the ways we embody our own light.

In the latest episode of the Ritual Herbalism Podcast, we explore solar herbs and the flower essence of sunflower, along with the kind of leadership and sovereignty this plant invites us to consider. Not power over others, but an inner strength rooted in right relationship. The kind of strength that knows who it is without needing to diminish anyone else, and that creates the conditions for others to flourish too.

If this way of energetically working with plants resonates with you, our Art of Flower Essence Therapy course is where we begin to deepen that relationship. It is also the foundation for our Flower Essence Practitioner Training, so if practitioner work has been calling to you, this is a beautiful place to begin.

Full episode linked in bio. 🌻

P.S. Art of Flower Essence Therapy is $100 off through August 31. If the practitioner program has been on your mind, beginning here now gives you the foundation to continue into the next stage of the training when you are ready.
