🔎Children are not just small adults, especially when it comes to Lyme disease and other complex chronic illnesses.

In children, these illnesses are often driven less by infection alone and more by immune dysregulation, neuroinflammation, and endothelial dysfunction.

Kids are biologically different. Their immune systems are still developing, their detox pathways are immature, and their brains are far more reactive due to higher neuroplasticity and a more vulnerable blood-brain barrier.🧠

That means inflammation can rapidly impact mood, behavior, sleep, cognition, and emotional regulation.

🧩When we continue treating children like small adults, we miss what pediatric illness actually looks like.

Earlier recognition leads to better treatment, better support, and ultimately better outcomes for children.

🤰Congenital Lyme disease is still one of the most overlooked conversations in medicine.

Some children begin life already carrying:
- chronic inflammation
- immune dysfunction
- neurological symptoms
- developmental struggles
- unexplained chronic illness

And too often, parents are told:
“Everything looks normal.”

🎙️I recently had the honor of speaking at ILADS Europe about the urgent need for earlier recognition, deeper investigation, and root-cause care for both mothers and children affected by complex chronic illness.

Because when we stop dismissing symptoms, we can start changing outcomes.

🌳This education matters.
These families deserve answers.
And these children deserve a future built on understanding, not dismissal.

If your child seems to struggle when school lets out, there may be more going on than just adjusting to summer.

For children with Lyme disease, PANS/PANDAS, and other complex neuroimmune conditions, changes in routine can create real nervous system stress. The structure of the school year often provides a sense of predictability that helps support regulation.

As summer begins, try to:
✅Keep consistent wake times, meals, and bedtimes
✅ Prepare your child for upcoming changes
✅ Prioritize movement, outdoor time, and regulation tools
✅ Watch for early signs of dysregulation before they escalate

If transitions are difficult for your child, it's not a parenting failure. It's often a nervous system asking for more support.

A little structure can go a long way toward making summer more enjoyable for the whole family.

🎙️I recently joined the Podcast to talk about something I see every day in my practice, and that is how Lyme disease and related infections don’t always present the way we expect.

In many cases, especially in children, symptoms show up as changes in mood, behavior, cognition, and nervous system regulation, not as a classic infection.

We discussed how we have to start thinking beyond isolated symptoms and begin looking at the full neuroimmune picture. When we understand how infections, inflammation, and the brain are connected, we can start asking better questions and, more importantly, finding better answers.

💚If this resonates with you or your family, you are not alone. Listen to the full episode to go deeper, and share it with someone who needs to hear this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KCnl3r6hqU4

Thank you !
Reframing for ASD, autoimmune/neuroimmune, chronic tickborne infections in kids and the incredible parents fighting for them.

1% better every day doesn’t look dramatic over night…
but for kids battling PANS/PANDAS & chronic Lyme, those tiny wins are EVERYTHING. 🤍

one calmer morning
one full meal
one less flare
one smile
one step back into childhood

Healing isn’t linear.
Progress isn’t always visible.
But small daily improvements become life-changing transformation over time.

To the parents fighting silently behind the scenes:
your consistency matters.
your advocacy matters.
your hope matters.

1% better every day adds up. 💫

Sometimes the hardest part isn’t the symptom itself…it’s not being heard.

💡When a child changes suddenly, it’s easy for those shifts to be dismissed, misunderstood, or labeled as behavioral. But often, those symptoms are signals. The body is responding to something deeper.

As a parent, you’re usually the first to notice that change. That instinct matters.
🧩Learning to listen means looking beyond the surface, asking better questions, and recognizing that there may be a biological reason behind what you’re seeing.

You’re not overreacting. You’re advocating. I’m here to walk alongside you every step of the way.

🦠 May is Lyme & Tick-borne Disease Awareness Month 🦠
Millions are impacted by Lyme and other tick-borne illnesses every year — yet too many patients still face delayed diagnoses, limited treatment access, and a lack of research funding.
Now is the time to take action. Urge your Representative to support:
▪️ H.Res.1279
▪️ H.R.4348
These resolutions help advance awareness, education, prevention, and support for those living with Lyme and tick-borne diseases.
Your voice matters. Advocacy creates change. 💚

Many parents are told their child’s symptoms are “just anxiety,” “behavioral,” or something they’ll outgrow.

But what if those symptoms are actually signals of something deeper happening in the body? 🧠

The R.E.S.E.T. Protocol is a structured, root-cause approach I designed to uncover and address the underlying drivers of complex pediatric conditions.
Instead of chasing symptoms, we work through a step-by-step process that focuses on:
✨ Reducing toxic burden
✨ Calming inflammation
✨ Restoring gut health
✨ Addressing hidden infections
✨ Supporting long-term healing and resilience

Because when we support the whole system, not just isolated symptoms, true transformation becomes possible 💚

If you’re navigating complex health challenges with your child, you don’t have to figure it out alone.

When a child suddenly develops OCD, anxiety, tics, rage, regression, or sensory changes, it’s important to ask a deeper question: what is driving the inflammation in the brain? 🧠

While at the ILADS Europe Conference, Dr. Nancy O’Hara and I took a few moments to talk about PANS/PANDAS, what’s really happening beneath the surface, and the common symptoms parents should never ignore.

💡These children are not “just behavioral.” In many cases, we’re looking at neuroinflammation, immune dysregulation, and an activated nervous system that needs support and investigation.

💚We’re honored to be on the front lines with pediatric patients and to continue educating families and practitioners around these misunderstood conditions.

One of the most powerful moments from the Lyme Warrior 10th Anniversary Gala wasn’t a speech or a presentation — it was watching some of the biggest names in Lyme disease research let loose, laugh together, and celebrate alongside the very community they’ve spent years fighting for.

Dr. Eva Sapi, Dr. Monica Embers, and joined on stage for the “Lyme Game Show,” a hilarious and surprisingly emotional reminder that Lyme patients need more than treatments and research papers. They need community. They need hope. They need nights where the disease doesn’t feel so heavy.

That’s what Lyme Warrior created.

Instead of another formal event filled with statistics and sadness, Lyme Warrior built a night around laughter, music, connection, advocacy, and healing. Researchers stood beside patients. Advocates stood beside families. Clinicians stood beside the people whose lives they’ve dedicated themselves to helping.

And honestly… this community deserved that.

Huge thanks to and founder for creating something so meaningful for the chronic Lyme community. The entire evening reflected the mission Lyme Warrior has spent the last 10 years building: making sure Lyme patients never feel alone.

The night also featured an incredible keynote from discussing how far Lyme medicine has come over the last decade and why better diagnostics, physician education, and whole-person care remain so important.

Guests also heard powerful conversations surrounding persistent infection, Bartonella, perinatal Lyme disease, chronic illness complexity, biofilm research, and the future of Lyme diagnostics and treatment.

Most importantly, the evening reminded patients something many people desperately need to hear right now: brilliant minds are continuing to work together to better understand chronic Lyme disease and help patients heal.

And then closed the night with a deeply emotional live performance that reminded the room they are not alone in this fight.
