De-plasticing your kitchen starts with noticing the everyday items that come into contact with your food most often.
I usually prioritize three things: heat, friction, and food contact.
If plastic is being used with warm food, scraped during cooking, or cut on regularly, that’s where I’d look first. Small swaps in these high-use areas can help reduce repeat exposure from the products you use every day!
A few kitchen swaps I prioritize:
✅ Plastic food storage → glass, silicon or stainless steel
✅ Nonstick cookware → stainless steel, cast iron
✅ Plastic utensils → FSC wood, stainless, silicon
✅ Plastic scrubbers/sponges → cellulose or sisal
✅ Plastic cutting boards → wood, stainless, glass
✅ Conventional dish soaps → or
✅ Plastic trash bags → compostable bags
Save this for your plastic-free kitchen reset!
