High cholesterol has no symptoms. Neither does high blood pressure, and neither does elevated blood sugar early on.
That's the problem for a self insured employer. The conditions most likely to become a serious claim are the ones your workforce can't feel and will never report. They show up as an event, not a complaint.
September is National Cholesterol Education Month, and the practical version for a benefits leader is short:
✔ These risks are invisible without bloodwork
✔ Bloodwork requires an appointment most people don't schedule
✔ The appointment is the barrier, not the willingness
✔ Removing that barrier is what onsite screening does
That's what early detection buys you. The difference between managing a number and managing a hospitalization.
