If you have been told you need to exercise, you already know it. Knowing is not the hard part.

It is rarely as simple as joining a gym. Maybe you get winded on a walk you used to take easily. Maybe chest tightness or shortness of breath makes you slow down. Maybe a knee or a hip hurts before you have gone a block. Getting older is not easy, and “just move more” doesn’t work for everyone.

The part worth being honest about is that not moving costs you. Muscle and bone thin out, balance gets worse, and falls become more likely. Blood pressure, blood sugar, and cholesterol all drift the wrong way. Fatigue deepens, which makes moving harder, which in turn deepens the fatigue. Movement is still the single most protective thing most people can do for their long term health, and that is exactly what makes the barrier to starting worth taking seriously.

What we can do is work on what is in the way.

EECP (Enhanced External Counterpulsation) uses timed leg cuffs that compress in rhythm with your heartbeat, increasing blood flow while you rest on a treatment table. It is FDA cleared for chronic stable angina. In published studies, EECP has also been associated with less fatigue, farther walking distance, and less shortness of breath.

StemWave is a focused acoustic shockwave therapy used for the relief of muscle and joint aches and pains. It helps to improve circulation and decrease inflammation. Most people walk out of their first session feeling better.

If chest pain or shortness of breath is new or getting worse, that gets worked up first by a cardiologist.

Neither therapy replaces exercise, but for some people, they make the first step possible.

If you're worried about your heart health 🫀 or dealing with poor circulation, keep reading. 👇

We offer EECP (Enhanced External Counterpulsation) at OK Theta & Wellness.

Here's what it does: cuffs on your legs inflate in rhythm with your heartbeat. When your heart rests, they squeeze, pushing blood back up toward it. Then, right before your heart pumps again, they release. So the heart pumps into a system that just opened up, against far less resistance. Less work, every single beat.

That timing does something else too. The surge of flow creates shear stress along your vessel walls, and shear stress triggers nitric oxide release. Nitric oxide is what tells blood vessels to relax and open, and that happens everywhere, from your brain to your feet.

What the research shows:
🫀 The body grows new collateral arteries, natural bypasses around blockages
🩸 The endothelial lining improves system wide, not just in the heart

It's cleared by the FDA and covered by Medicare for chronic stable angina. Noninvasive. No needles, no downtime. You lie down and watch TV. A full course is 35 sessions, about seven weeks.

Everyone's results are different, but here's what we've seen from our clients so far:
✔️ An average 14 point drop in systolic blood pressure
✔️ Chest pain gone
✔️ Heart rate finally down after COVID
✔️ Restless legs at night resolved
✔️ Clearer thinking, less fatigue
✔️ Neuropathy and swelling improved
✔️ Better balance, stamina, strength
✔️ Improved breathing
✔️ ED improved

All of that from one thing: perfusion where there wasn't enough of it.

Call or text us at 405-849-5165. We'll go over your history and whether you'll need cardiology clearance.

Thank you Dr. Miles for sharing your experience and research!

There is a new kid on the block in Oklahoma City. When OK Theta Chamber reached out to me to test this, I had no idea what I was walking into! After what I will admit was the oddest treatment, I did a deep dive into the research and was blown away at the long

The Theta Chamber combines light, sound, and gentle vestibular motion to guide brainwaves toward theta — the slow-wave state you pass through right before sleep. 30 minutes of pure relaxation!

Getting my girl ready for school looks a little different around here. Thirty minutes in the Theta Chamber has been part of her routine this summer, and this is what I’ve watched happen. Visit oktheta.com to learn more. Chad Glenn

Here is exactly when insurance covers it, since that is the question everyone asks.

The treatment is EECP. Medicare and most major plans cover a full 35 session course when all of these are true.

Your angina is Class 3 or 4. Class 3 means a block of walking or one flight of stairs sets it off. Class 4 means almost anything does, or it happens at rest.

You are already on maximum medication and still having pain.

You are not a candidate for a stent or bypass, whether because of your anatomy, high operative risk, or other conditions that make surgery too risky. A cardiologist or cardiothoracic surgeon has to be the one who determines that. It is built into the policy.

And your cardiologist has to clear you medically, which is a separate step and not a formality. Things like a leaky aortic valve, an aortic aneurysm, a leg clot, uncontrolled blood pressure, or certain irregular rhythms all have to be ruled out first. EECP is gentle but it moves a lot of blood, and that is not safe for everyone.

If you do not meet every criterion, EECP can still be an option as self pay. Either way we verify your benefits first so you know exactly where you stand before you start.

“Why hasn’t my doctor told me about this?”

Fair question. The honest answer: most of them have never heard of it.

I worked in hospitals for 14 years and never once heard EECP mentioned. Not in a lecture. Not on rounds. It isn’t taught in school. It’s not a drug, so there’s no rep bringing lunch to the clinic to talk about it.

That’s the whole reason it stays invisible.

EECP is a non-invasive, FDA-cleared therapy. Cuffs on the calves, thighs, and hips inflate in rhythm with your heartbeat, pushing blood back toward the heart between beats.

If you’re living with heart failure or angina, ask your cardiologist whether you’d be a candidate. And if they haven’t heard of it, that’s not a knock on them. The information just hasn’t reached them yet.

Tag someone that needs to see this.

Let’s talk about endothelial dysfunction.

It’s part of why heart disease is the number one killer in Oklahoma and still gets missed.

Every blood vessel in your body is lined with a single layer of cells that tells your vessels when to relax and open. When that layer stops working, it shows up as chest pain with clean arteries, high blood pressure, diabetes, Long COVID, POTS, poor circulation, and brain fog. Different symptoms, same pathway. It’s the lining, not the plumbing.

This is exactly why we’re so passionate about EECP. You lie on a table for an hour while cuffs on your legs squeeze in rhythm with your heartbeat, pushing blood up toward your heart and brain. That flow stimulates nitric oxide and improves endothelial function, working on the lining itself. And you no longer have to drive to Dallas for it. 🙌

This is my stress relief, because I’m terrible at meditating.

The Theta Chamber uses light, sound, and gentle vibration to guide your brain toward a theta rhythm, the slow brainwave state you pass through right before sleep. The one real meditators spend years learning to find. It does the hard part for you.

30 minutes. Nothing to focus on, nothing to
clear, nothing to be good at.

After a stressful day, the first thing I notice every single time is my shoulders dropping.

Tag someone who’s also a terrible meditator. 😂
