My friendship with Tina literally started out with a smile.

Two women who didn’t know each other made eye contact, smiled, and started a conversation. That’s all it took to create one of the best friendships in my adult life.

That’s the foundation of this program. Showing up with an open heart and an open mind ready and willing to make new friends. It starts with being kind and friendly. From there, friendships can takeoff.

With Tina though, I already had Wise Girl Workshops running. While I’d been an athlete my whole life, I wanted someone with absolute expertise in movement and nutrition.

That smile eventually turned into an invitation to walk laps the entire 60 minutes of practice week after week.

Somewhere along the way, I asked Tina if she’d join a workshop, bringing movement and nutrition.

One workshop turned into a series which has turned into years of working together.

Which has developed not only into summer camps but our School Year Wellness Workshops and Wise Girl Adventures. All these programs involve movement and nutrition as two of the cornerstones to our curriculum.

So yeah, a smile can make a difference in someone’s life. Not only do we work together, but we vacation together and get outdoors on the weekends together. Here we are on the PCT hiking together this Memorial Day weekend with our families.

If you want your daughter in on developing essential life skills, making new friends, gaining support, and walking away with a feeling of connection and belonging, then register for our programs today.

Our summer camps, Wise Girl Adventures, and fall School Year Wellness Workshops are all open for registration for girls entering 3rd-11th grades.

I had the honor of being featured in the Petaluma Voice’s Mother’s Day edition—a local independent online new source.

Sitting down with the talented Crissy Pascual to lean in on my own journey as a mother. Sharing about what really helped me in my early days of mothering, what I wish my mom had NOT passed down to me, and what I want to instill in my own daughters were some of the topics of discussion.

In addition, I also had to work through the foolishness and anxiety I feel when getting interviewed and photos snapped. While it may seem like I enjoy putting myself out there, it can be hard to and fear of judgement can creep in.

So, why do it? Why subject myself to feeling foolish and anxious? Because if I want to spread the good word about Wise Girl Workshops, and I can help any mother with my words feel a little better and not so alone, I’m in.

I value helping people in all the ways I can. Sometimes it’s with workshops, other times it’s in the 1:1 therapy interactions with my clients in my countryside office, and sometimes it’s sitting down with a journalist and letting myself be real and raw—which is evidenced if you head to this article’s link and see me burst into tears as I talk about my own mom.

Being a mother is such a journey, and I was honored to answer 5 questions about my own experience.

Go ahead and check out the link and support this amazing news source. They’re up and coming and need community support. You can join for free and if you feel inclined, they also have paid subscriptions, which help support working families in our sweet town.

A special thanks to for the beautiful photos and delightful conversation. From mom to mom, you’re a rock star as you show your daughters exemplary values like founding an organization based on what matters to you, caring to give people reliable information to make their own informed decisions, and sharing kindness and love with all around you.
