Complex trauma is not one terrible thing that happened.

It is chronic. Pattern based. Repeated over a long time, and it usually involves more than one kind of trauma. It affects relationships, and how you see yourself.

That is Erin Woodbridge, MA, LPC, of The Willow Space for Trauma Treatment, explaining the difference at the workshop we ran last week.

I asked her to do it because a lot of the women I see have already been told their labs are fine and something still feels stuck. Sometimes what is underneath that is not hormonal, or not only hormonal.

Someone asked me the other day what I actually do.

I look at the whole body. Not just the s*x organs. Not just the lungs. Not just the heart. All of it, and how the parts work with each other.

Medicine got specialized. You go to the cardiologist and they are looking at the heart, but the lungs play a huge part in the heart, and the heart plays a huge part in the lungs.

That is why I do this. I want to see what the whole body is doing, and not one single part of it.
