Switched suppliers because the last batch from my old supplier had a good amount of visibly defective mats, and I will only provide the highest quality cork yoga mat. I'm now learning that some have defect rubber backings too and that I could not see.

If you find that the back of your Yoganomalous mat is deteriorating after only a few months PLEASE know that is NOT my standard and I will make it right. My old supplier was great when I first started working with them, but their quality has dwindled since the tariffs started and I'm sure it's because they started cutting costs.

If you recently received a Yoganomalous cork yoga mat and it had the Yoganomalous paper tape and the tissue paper around the yoga mat, you have a mat from the new supplier already and you should not have any issues like this, other than possibly needing to wipe the soot off of the mat because it is a burned design.

Not me going car camping to heal my homelessness as a child trauma and using a stack of defective Yoganomalous blocks I've collected over the past decade to support my bed platform in my sedan. And you know that I had my mat in that moss too. I also lined my bed platform with defective Yoganomalous mats for added comfort 😸

Grounded in nature, rooted in truth. Authenticity is important to me here at Yoganomalous, knowing my products is important to me. Too frequently I see misinformation about synthetic rubber, PU, PVC and TPE yoga mats, and I can only hope that it's just them lacking knowledge of their own products versus a lack of telling the truth. Cork companies too share misinformation, from telling people that cork is an absorbent material, to tree rubber being lightweight. Here's what over a decade of research and experience has taught me.

Synthetic rubber is NOT biodegradable. Many companies use synthetic rubber for its low cost and its durability, which is great and all but again... Not biodegradable and mostly petroleum based plastic.

PU is also NOT biodegradable. It's also a petroleum based plastic product. PU stands for polyurethane, which is kinda like a hybrid of synthetic rubber and plastic.

PVC and TPE are also NOT biodegradable, petroleum based plastics.

Companies will back their mats with rubber and then use a plastic surface and sell it to you as biodegradable. Or vice versa, using a natural surface and a plastic base and again, sell it to you as natural and biodegradable. All only half truths.

The truth for Yoganomalous? My mats are heavy, because they are actually 100% biodegradable. Made from plants such as the hevea brasiliensis trees, the Para Rubber tree, and the quercus suber, cork oak tree. I also work with suppliers who have various certifications to prove that they provide natural cork and rubber, and all of this is very intentional.

You know, I'm always on a mission to create the best cork yoga mats on the market. I've been on this mission for the past 10 years now.  

I remember when I first started designing cork yoga mats, my mats were only 3-4 mm thick, they were only 24" wide, and 68" long. The tree rubber to calcium carbonate filler was much lower too. My cork granules were large and often rough feeling. 

Don't get me wrong, I LOVED my mats when I first started, and I still do love them. But I've also grown, and changed. In my growth my mats have improved. Here's a little rundown on how. 

-My mats are now 5 mm thick, best for support. 
-They are also 26" wide by 72" long for extra wiggle room.
-I've increased the tree rubber to calcium carbonate filler in the backing of my mats, effectively creating a yoga mat that has more energy dampening properties, so it's kinder to your joints.
-My cork granules are not too big, but they're also not too small anymore. They don't feel rough like the big granules do, but they're also not too smooth like the super teeny ones can feel sometimes.
-My mats are now FSC certified! FSC certifications ensure responsible forest management and sustainable materials. 

There is one thing I have yet to improve upon, and it's not for lack of trying, it's because I have very specific requirements I'm looking to meet. My mats are still 8 lb, but that's because they are all natural and I don't use any synthetic fillers to create a lightweight mat. A lot of companies use lower tree rubber content, synthetic fillers, or they use materials that are not biodegradable, or materials that are biodegradable, but do not support your joints and your movements. 

Once I find a lightweight material that is supportive, energy dampening, shock absorbing, biodegradable, long-lasting, good for yoga mats AND that I have access to, I'll let ya know ;3

The Moon Phase Design has been upgraded~

Too many companies have created Moon Phase designs that look too similar to my Original Moon Phase design from early 2017, so I decided to revamp my Moon Phase design.

Now it has more depth in the grey tones, creating a more vibrate design that really stands out!
