Arizona Bleeding Disorders

Arizona Bleeding Disorders Dedicated to enhancing the quality of life for people with inherited bleeding disorders.

Bleeding disorders are life-threatening, debilitating, and expensive to treat with many physical, emotional and social challenges. A child with severe Hemophilia will spend over $150,000 annually to prevent bleeding. Some children and adults build up inhibitors to the treatment and the costs can exceed $1,000,000 per year. Failure to preventatively treat the disorder can result in prolonged painfu

l bleeds that cause permanent and severe damage. Proper medical care and an ability to manage through the ‘insurance maze’ becomes paramount. Teens need to fully appreciate the importance of getting a quality education so that they can get a job with sufficient insurance. The entire family is affected by the bleeding disorder physically, emotionally, and financially. With over 40 years experience, we are the only agency in the state of Arizona that provides programs and services to people affected by bleeding disorders so that they can better cope with their disorder and can become self-advocates for themselves and/or their family. We partner with Hemophilia Treatment Centers, other agencies, and medical professionals to provide programs and services unique to the bleeding disorder community to best meet their needs.

The Camp HONOR dance!

Every year, one of our favorite long-standing all-camp activities is the Camp HONOR dance. A night where campers get a little more dressed up, dance all night, and somehow someway the Cha Cha Slide still takes over every single year.

We always try to make it bigger and better each summer, and this year we’ve got AZBD’s very own DJ Pip Squeak running the music!

Camp HONOR is officially ONE MONTH AWAY! Get hyped campers!

The Jeremy Storms’ Straight Arrow Award is one of Camp HONOR’s longest-standing traditions.

Jeremy Storms loved Camp HONOR. As a hemophiliac, he attended from its inception until his passing in 1996. He cherished the fun, fellowship, and challenges, always showing respect for the camp staff. Jeremy was diligent in his participation in events and in encouraging others. One of his favorite activities at camp was archery, symbolized by the arrows on the award.

His family is proud to present this special award in Jeremy’s honor to the camper who best exemplifies courage, integrity, and honor at Camp HONOR, qualities that Jeremy embodied throughout his life.

Camp HONOR is getting closer and closer… campers, how are you going to show up this year with camp spirit?

Next Week!

OWN IT!: Transitioning to Adulthood is for teens and young adults (14–25) who are ready to take on more responsibility, both in managing a bleeding disorder and in life in general. It’s not just about the medical side. It’s real-life skills, asking questions, and connecting with people who get it.

In May, we’re focusing on owning your movement and learning how to better understand your body. This session is all about recognizing when something feels off, knowing how to respond, and building confidence in how you move day-to-day.

When: May 30, 2026 from 9–11 AM
Where: AZBD Office, 826 N 5th Ave, Phoenix, AZ 85003

One of our favorite things to see is members of our community out doing the things they love and building confidence both inside and outside of the bleeding disorders community.

This weekend, one of our community members, Matthias, is helping support a fundraiser through his soccer club, and we wanted to help share it with our AZBD community too!

If you’d like to support, swipe for more information on the event! Register here: https://www.zeffy.com/en-US/ticketing/canyon-academy-fc-world-cup-viewing-party
