No two people arrive at physical therapy the same way.
Some are recovering from surgery, some are relearning how to trust their body after childbirth, some are coming back from an accident or getting ready to return to work, and some simply want to stay active and independent as they age.
What they share is a goal: getting back to the people, activities, and routines that matter most. This September we're showing the personalized programs, credentialed clinicians, and individualized plans that make that possible, no matter which chapter a patient is starting.

The body doesn't forget what you asked it to do all summer. And fall is about to ask for more. 🍂
Youth athletes coming off a full summer of training often walk straight into fall tryouts and full-contact practices without much recovery in between. That gap is where overuse injuries start — and where sports specialization quietly raises the risk even further.

Some early signs worth watching for:
⚠️ Pain that shows up during activity, then fades — until it doesn’t
⚠️ Favoring one side or noticeably changing form
⚠️ Fatigue that doesn’t match the effort
⚠️ “It’s fine” said one too many times

These aren’t always dramatic. That’s what makes them easy to miss until they’ve already derailed the season.
We’ve put together two resources for parents and coaches heading into this stretch — one on recognizing overuse injuries early, and one on the risks of early sports specialization.

Read the signs, then book a visit before the season gets full. https://www.therapeuticassociates.com/overuse-injuries-youth-athletes/

What if your employer paid you to become a PT? 👀

Katie Duke started as a part-time exercise specialist at our Northwest Boise clinic. When she decided to go to PT school, Therapeutic Associates helped cover her tuition, with the promise that she'd come back to a team that invested in her growth. Ten years later, she's Practice Manager.

Fall Sports Spotlight: Soccer ⚽ + Cross Country 🏃

Two of fall's biggest sports. Two of the most common overuse injury patterns. One window to get ahead of both.

⚽ Soccer families — quick cuts, sprints, and repetitive kicking put a lot of stress on growing joints. Heel pain (hello, Sever's disease) is one of the most common complaints we see this time of year. We've got tips to help set your athlete up for a strong, healthy season.

🏃 Cross country runners — high mileage, early in the season, on legs that haven't built up to it yet. It's a recipe for shin splints, stress reactions, and burnout if we're not proactive.

Tryouts are already here. Don't wait until it hurts to take action — a preseason screening can catch small issues before they become sidelined-for-a-season issues.

With the end of summer drawing near, fall sports are starting to ramp up. For many student-athletes, this could mean transitioning back to full activity after having a nice long summer break. It is essential for kids of all ages to be able to monitor their bodies as they get back into sports and competition.
