With everything going on with the wildfires right now, I've been feeling so much grief — for the land, for the people who've lost homes, for how heavy this smoke season feels in general.

When I don't know what else to do with that much feeling, I write. So today I did, and I decided to share it — in the hopes that personally and collectively, we might find a little relief, and maybe even meet this moment with something more than just heartbreak.

If you've lost your home or someone you love has, I am so sorry, and I hope you know this whole community is holding you. I've included some links in the piece to organizations helping those most affected, if you're able to give.

This morning's Circle of Re-Membering was just... good for the soul.

We gathered, sipped some beautiful tea, dropped into meditation together, and let ourselves wander through the curious, talkative energy of Gemini season. There was so much richness in the sharing.

I am so grateful for these souls who show up — for themselves, for each other, and for this little community we're weaving together. Getting to do this work is not something I take lightly.

Sometimes, I really think that if the power of Mother-love was upheld as the most sacred thing in this world, we would live very different lives.

One day will never be enough to begin to thank my Mama for everything she has given me and continues to give. She has been a warrior, a nurturer, a queen, a wise woman. She has played endless, endless and often thankless roles especially as a single mother.

She has also served as a mother for many of my friends who didn't have such a good mothering experience.

She is pure heart. Fierce, funny, smart, and kind beyond reason.

I'm not sure there is an adequate way to honor her but if you know her, or even if you don't, please give some love to her today.

Love you a million Swedish Fish, Mama.
