Besties…. IT’S CERES CHILL!

I got to sit down with Lisa Myers, the founder of Ceres Chill, and have a conversation that ended up being almost an hour and a half because apparently we had A LOT to talk about. 😂

We talked about breastfeeding, postpartum, the realities of pumping, the Ceres Chill products themselves and the “why” behind creating them, and what it looks like to actually make life a little easier for breastfeeding and pumping parents.

But we also went way beyond the products.

We talked about the things that come with feeding a baby that nobody really prepares you for. The mental load. The logistics. The weird, funny, inconvenient parts of breastfeeding. And why having products that are actually designed with real parents in mind can make such a difference.

And honestly, I loved hearing Lisa talk about why Ceres Chill exists in the first place and how her own experiences helped shape what she created.

This conversation is REAL, it’s honest, it’s funny, and it’s one of those episodes where I genuinely didn’t want to stop talking.

Your birth partner loves you and is there for whatever you need.

But do they actually know what to DO when you’re in labor?

Because “What do you need?” every five minutes probably isn’t going to be the support plan you had in mind.

We know they want to do everything possible to help and care for you. BUT you shouldn’t have to remind your birth partner how to support you while you’re the one having contractions.

That’s exactly why I created The Birth Partner Crash Course.

It’s a self-paced, 6-module online course designed for the person who will be right beside you during labor and birth.

Inside, they’ll learn:

✨ What their role actually is in the birth space
✨ How to prepare for the big day
✨ What to expect during the different stages of labor
✨ What they can actually DO during each stage
✨ Comfort measures, movement, positioning & counter-pressure
✨ How to stay calm when plans change
✨ How to support you after baby arrives

And no—they don’t need to become a doula.

They just need to know how to show up, stay grounded, and actually be helpful when you need them most!

The Birth Partner Crash Course

100% online + self-paced
6 practical modules
Hands-on technique videos
$99 one-time payment
Lifetime access

You can watch it together. Watch it separately. Come back to the techniques whenever you need them.

Because when labor starts, you don’t want your partner thinking:

“Uhhh…what am I supposed to do?”

You want them thinking:

“I’ve got you.”

If you’re pregnant, send this to your birth partner.

And if you’re the birth partner?

This one’s for you.

🎙️ NEW EPISODE!

We just wrapped up the Build Your Birth Team series, so I thought it was time to give you a little peek behind the scenes of what it’s actually like to be the doula.

And specifically… what it’s like to be an on-call doula with three kids.

Because when I tell a client, “I’m on call starting around 38 weeks,” that sounds pretty simple.

But what does that actually look like when I’m also a mom, wife, and business owner?

What happens when I’m at Target?
When I’m in the middle of dinner?
When I’m nursing my baby at 2 AM?
When my husband is working?
When I’m already at another birth?

We’re talking about all of it — the childcare logistics, the mental load, the unpredictability, having a solid backup network, the people behind the scenes who make it possible for me to do this work, and what my kids actually think I do for a living.

And if you’re a doula, stick around until the end because I have a little reminder for you:

Being on call does NOT mean putting your life on pause.

You can still see your friends. Go to appointments. Take your kids places. Have a life. You just have to be prepared to shift gears when that phone rings.

“Unless I’m at a Birth: The Reality of Being an On-Call Doula With Three Kids” is live now wherever you listen to podcasts!

And as always, you’re doing much better than you think.

Support looks different from birth to birth, and also from minute to minute within labor. At this point in labor, this mom was in a relaxed state and felt in control. Gentle rolling on the ball in between contractions helped her pelvis open and baby move down, and constant touch and reassurance from her amazing husband kept her calm. During contractions, she loved double hip squeezes to add that counter pressure to that contraction pain.

Little did she know, only a couple hours after this she would hit transition then bring her baby earth-side with only a few pushes.

Not all parts of birth are loud and fast. When you have these slow, calm moments do what you can to preserve it and live in it.

Cannot get over this recent review from the other half of my client I had the honor of supporting. My job as your doula is never to take the role of your partner, husband, wife, anyone. I am there to uplift them and help them know how to step into their role with confidence. I’m thankful that so many partners trust me just as much as their person does and understands why I’m there and how I can help.

If you’re looking for support and guidance through pregnancy, childbirth and postpartum then let’s chat.

I can’t wait to support you ♥️

Time for our next Birthworker Coffee Date! We’re meeting at my new favorite coffee shop this time, just outside of downtown Raleigh. Come meet some fellow birthworkers, get to know each other, and build your community.

There’s a tiny parking lot in front, or you can park in the parking deck across the street.

Let me know in the comments if you’ll be making it, and share with your friends!

*We will do one early September outside of Raleigh. Likely east of Raleigh in Wendell!*

✨ Birth Prep Collective is here! ✨

Preparing for birth shouldn’t be something you do alone—and your partner shouldn’t have to figure it out on the fly.

That’s why we’ve brought together three local experts for one interactive class designed to help you both walk into birth feeling informed, prepared, and confident.

Join us on August 19th for a two-hour workshop where you’ll learn from:

Ally Raven – Birth Doula
Helping you create your birth preferences, navigate the hospital setting, and teaching your partner how to confidently support you through labor.

Vicki Gothard – Pelvic Floor Therapist
Learn how to prepare your body for birth, reduce the risk of tearing, manage pregnancy discomforts, and set yourself up for a smoother recovery.

Dr. Brooke Sellers – Chiropractor
Discover how alignment, movement, and chiropractic care can support a more comfortable pregnancy and help optimize your body for birth. As well as early milestone support for your little ones.

This class is designed for you AND your support person because birth is a team effort. Whether your partner is excited, nervous, or has no idea what to expect, they’ll leave with practical tools they can actually use when labor begins.

✨ Ask questions.
✨ Learn hands-on.
✨ Leave feeling more prepared for birth and postpartum.

📍 Purely Pelvic Therapy – Wendell, NC

As doulas, providers, and parents, we spend so much time preparing for birth.

We research strollers.
We make birth plans.
We install the car seat a million times.

But then we have the baby… and somehow we’re expected to just figure out becoming a whole new person.

That’s what this episode is about.

Therapy isn’t just for when everything is falling apart. It isn’t admitting defeat, and it doesn’t mean something is “wrong” with you.

What if we started looking at therapy the same way we look at childbirth classes, hiring a doula, or seeing a pelvic floor therapist?

Not because we expect something to go wrong…

…but because having support makes a difference.

In this episode, I also share my own postpartum journey, why my husband and I started couples therapy before our second baby was born (spoiler: it wasn’t because we were struggling), and how to find a therapist that’s actually the right fit for you.

This is also the final episode in my Build Your Birth Team series, and I couldn’t think of a better way to wrap it up.

Because building your birth team isn’t about expecting the worst.

It’s about remembering that you were never meant to do this alone.
