This is an important conversation that I think more people need to hear.
IMO, too many doctors go straight to prescriptions. Women, and all people, need to be heard, understood, and truly cared for.
These stories are heartbreaking. I hope we can see a change in the way we approach mental health and healthcare soon. 🙏✨️
I’m sharing this long but meaningful video. Please listen. ❤️
Thank you Neal K. Shah💕✨️
"I’m sharing this video because it raises questions that go far beyond these two heartbreaking cases. It’s a reminder that when we’re struggling, especially during pregnancy or postpartum, we have to be willing to ask questions, learn, and advocate for ourselves.
Too often, it can feel like the answer in healthcare is simply another prescription: another antidepressant, another medication for anxiety, another medication to help us sleep. And sometimes medication absolutely has an important and appropriate place. But a prescription should not replace looking deeper into WHY someone is struggling.
We need better postpartum mental health care. We need more access to specialists. We need doctors who have the time and resources to recognize warning signs early. And we need patients and families to know what questions to ask and what resources are available.
Do your own research. Ask questions. Get a second opinion when something doesn't feel right. And don't be afraid to say, “Is there another approach? What could be causing this? What else should we be looking at?”
This video is NOT saying that any medication caused either of these situations. The Clancy case is still being decided in court, and Hayden Panettiere's cause of death is pending toxicology.
But these stories should make all of us stop and ask whether we're doing enough to recognize people in crisis before it becomes an emergency.
Please watch this one. And if you know a new mother who is struggling, don't just tell her to “get some rest.” Help her get that rest. Help her get support. Help her get care. ❤️"
