But just make sure your bacon is from a farm you trust where the animals are out on pasture, fed their natural diet, and treated humanely--no factory farmed meat from animals crammed into stalls! Healthy happy animals make US healthier too.

I'll go first... (Please share your memories too!)

In 1998 around the time we began building our house, my Dad got really sick and we thought he wasn't going to make it. I was sad for many reasons, obviously, but one thing that was really bothering me was that he'd never see our new home. God worked a miracle though, Dad did recover and lived a few more months! When our house was almost done I'll never forget the day he and Mom came over--we have a picture of them standing out in front. That meant so much to us.

Dad ended up going back into the hospital the day we moved in, and he died a few days later from emphysema/COPD, but I'll always be grateful for the extra time we had with him.

We miss Kent's Dad too and besides that he was one of the best men I've EVER known, what always brings tears to my eyes is thinking of how bravely he lived his last few years with Alzheimers.

I can't wait to hear your memories too, whether you're blessed to still have your Dad or he has passed on.

Parents like us are concerned about everything that goes into our kids bodies. In all my years of running a day care and being a Mom, I've never seen a kid play in the water outside and not put the hose to their mouth for a drink, have you?

It's almost strawberry season here!

One time in early June my friend Sonia invited me over for the YUMMY Strawberry Bruschetta you see pictured here.

There was cinnamon toast and wonderful strawberries with basil and a creamy topping, oh my!

So we had coffee out on her deck on a beautiful morning and ate this light fresh tasting desserty breakfast, what a treat!

I'm getting better, but I used to have the pickiest palate in the world. When I tell you that mixing 3/4 # ground beef and 1/4 # ground beef heart is SO delicious, you can believe me–you really can eat beef heart. Heart is not “organ” tasting like liver and this is a great way to get more nutrition into your family, it actually tastes beefier!
