Before you overhaul your entire diet, try changing one thing. 😉

No single food can “balance” your hormones, and you don’t need to eat perfectly. But simple food choices can support steadier energy, better digestion, heart health, bone health, and how you feel during perimenopause, menopause, and postmenopause. 💚

Here are 10 easy swaps to try 👇

✅ Trade sugary cereal for a bowl of steel-cut oats with cinnamon and seeds. You’ll get steadier blood sugar and longer-lasting energy.
✅ Switch flavored yogurt for plain Greek yogurt with berries. You’ll boost protein and cut back on added sugar.
✅ Use whole grain or sprouted bread instead of white bread. The added fiber supports digestion, blood sugar, and estrogen clearance.
✅ Grab raw nuts and seeds instead of a processed snack bar. Healthy fats and minerals like zinc and magnesium help keep hormones steady.
✅ Choose organic or grass-fed dairy when you can. You’ll reduce exposure to synthetic hormones and give your body a cleaner source of nourishment.
✅ Replace soda or sweetened drinks with herbal tea or sparkling water with lemon. More hydration, less blood sugar chaos.
✅ Pick wild-caught salmon over farmed. You’ll get more anti-inflammatory omega-3s -- key for hormone signaling and brain health.
✅ Cook with olive or avocado oil instead of vegetable oil. These fats support hormone production and reduce inflammation.
✅ Make your own dressing with olive oil, lemon, and herbs. That way you skip the preservatives.
✅ Enjoy 70% dark chocolate instead of milk chocolate. You’ll get less sugar, more magnesium, and a bit of joy, too.

It’s time to make choices that are steady, satisfying, and supportive, one intentional swap at a time. Take charge of your meals and embrace what truly works for you.

Choose one swap that feels easy. Try it for a week and notice how you feel.

Sometimes it’s not only your busy mind keeping you awake. Your body may need a little support, too. 🙂

There isn’t one magical food that guarantees a good night’s sleep. If there were, I’d happily keep it on my nightstand. But your body does use nutrients from food for many of the processes involved in sleep, mood, and nervous system function. ✨

Here are a few foods you might consider ⤵️
✔️ Protein foods containing tryptophan
Eggs, turkey, yogurt, nuts, and seeds contain tryptophan, an amino acid your body uses to make serotonin and melatonin.
✔️ Foods with magnesium and vitamin B6
Bananas, leafy greens, almonds, chickpeas, salmon, and potatoes provide nutrients that support many functions in the brain and body.
✔️ Foods that have been studied for sleep
Tart cherries and kiwi have been studied for their possible connection to sleep. They aren’t sleeping pills, but they can be nourishing additions to your routine.
✔️ A small snack if you’re genuinely hungry
Going to bed with a growling stomach can make it harder to settle. Try whole-grain toast with almond butter, yogurt with berries, or a banana with a few nuts.

The goal isn’t to create another list of foods you “should” eat. It’s to get curious.
Notice how different evening foods, meal timing, caffeine, and alcohol affect your sleep. Your body may give you more useful information than any perfect bedtime-food list. ⭐

🤔 Have you ever caught yourself thinking...

“I guess this is just part of getting older.”

Maybe you’re waking up in the middle of the night, forgetting why you walked into a room, feeling more stressed than usual, or noticing that your body just doesn’t respond the way it used to. 😴

👉 Perimenopause and menopause can bring a lot of changes, but you don’t have to simply accept feeling tired, frustrated, or unlike yourself.

Your body is exhausted, but your brain has apparently scheduled a meeting for 2:00 a.m. 😴

🌙 You’re lying in bed replaying conversations, reviewing tomorrow’s to-do list, and worrying about things you can’t solve tonight.

Sound familiar?

Try giving your thoughts somewhere else to go.

A few minutes of journaling can help move some of that mental weight out of your head and onto the page. Think of it as an emotional exhale. 💛

Here are five gentle prompts to try before bed 👇

✅ What thoughts are taking up the most space in my mind?
✅ If my stress could speak, what would it ask for?
✅ What can I set down just for tonight?
✅ What felt good today, even if it was small?
✅ What does my body need to feel safe, grounded, and ready for rest?

You don’t need to write pages or say anything profound. Five honest minutes is enough.
Sleep, stress, and nervous system support become especially important during perimenopause, menopause, and postmenopause. 🙂

🌲 Move Your Body. Feed Your Soul.

One of my favorite ways to plan a vacation is around beautiful places to explore.

This photo was taken in Muir Woods National Monument in California, and hiking among these incredible redwood trees was an experience I'll never forget. I love vacations that combine movement, nature, and beautiful scenery. I always come home feeling refreshed, recharged, and inspired.

The best part? You don't have to travel across the country to experience those same benefits. Whether you're exploring a national park, hiking a local trail, walking around your neighborhood, or discovering a new park near home, getting outside is one of the simplest ways to care for your mind and body.

Nature has a wonderful way of helping us slow down, reduce stress, and appreciate the beauty around us.

💛 If you're in the Twin Cities area, I'd love to have you join me!

🚶 Tuesday Evening Walks
