September is . This month highlights the experiences, culture, and contributions of Deaf individuals and promotes greater accessibility and inclusion for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing community. DOR’s Deaf and Hard of Hearing Services (DHHS) supports Californians by providing:
• Deaf culture education and awareness
• Communication techniques and strategies
• Assistive technology
• Interpreter services
• Referrals and assistance in obtaining services from specialized agencies
• Specialized vocational and other training services
• Audiologic evaluations and hearing aid assessments
• Guidance on ADA requirements for communication accessibility
• Resources for individuals who are hard of hearing or late-deafened

The Disability 20 (D20) is an initiative focused on bringing the experiences, priorities, and leadership of people with disabilities into conversations surrounding the G20, which brings together many of the world's largest economies.

As part of that work, D20 is collecting input from people with disabilities and our communities to help shape disability-inclusive recommendations and advocacy connected to the 2026 G20 process.
The survey covers a broad range of issues that affect independent living and full participation in our communities, including:
• Access to benefits and services;
• Government paperwork and eligibility requirements;
• Reliable electricity for people who depend on mobility devices or medical equipment;
• Artificial intelligence and emerging technology;
• Accessibility;
• Employment;
• Healthcare;
• Education; and
• Community participation.

For the Independent Living community, this is a chance to make sure international policy discussions include the perspectives of people who actually live with the impact of these systems every day. Nothing about us without us applies globally, too.

The survey takes approximately 10–15 minutes to complete.
