Have questions about CT scans? We’re here to help!
What is a CT scan used for?
A CT scan combines X-rays with advanced computer processing to create detailed images of bones, soft tissues, and blood vessels — making it useful for everything from injury evaluation to cancer staging.
What CT services are offered at Mountain Medical?
We offer a wide range of CT services, including brain, neck, and chest CT scans, as well as specialized studies such as CT Enterograms, CT Urograms, and CT-guided biopsies.
Does a CT scan expose me to a lot of radiation?
CT scans use more radiation than standard X-rays, but the dose is kept as low as possible. In most cases, the diagnostic benefits far outweigh the small potential risks.
Can I have a CT scan if I have a pacemaker or if I’m pregnant?
Pacemakers are usually not an issue for CT scans. However, CT exams are generally avoided during pregnancy unless medically necessary, so it’s important to inform your technologist if you are pregnant or think you may be pregnant.
How should I prepare for a CT scan?
Wear comfortable clothing and remove any metal items before your exam. Some CT scans may require fasting or drinking water or contrast material — your appointment instructions will provide specific details.
Fast, affordable imaging with compassionate care — that’s the Mountain Medical difference.
