Youāve noticed weāve been a little quiet on our social media. Over two weeks since our last Facebook post⦠Yikes.
For most of this year, weāve been working really hard to produce at least 3-4 posts a week. Posts that were relatable. Told the story of us. Educated people about ingredients. Boast about new products.
But the current silence isnāt a new trend. Weāre just entering a new season. A new season of busy. Preparation. Andā¦construction. *wink wink*
**Drum roll, please**
Weāve been quiet because weāve been working hard behind the scenes on something bigger. And itās time we break the silence and finally share the big news:
WEāRE MOVING.
Whew. Itās seriously like a load off my chest just to put the words out there. This has been months, scratch that, YEARS in the making. Itās been nearly 8 years in our space now. In those eight years, weāve remodeled our space ~5 times. Remodels have included new floors, a separation wall with our cute arched window peaking into the Makery, and shelves. So many shelves.
It got to the point where I was asking my husband for more shelves until he finally said, āYes, I can put a shelf way up there on the wall. But itās not safe or efficient to put stuff up there. WEāRE OUT OF ROOM!ā And heās right (for once).
We recently began wholesaling our products, and the response has been incredible. But when a large wholesale order comes in, weāve found ourselves rejoicing and then immediately strategizing how we can fulfill it in the limited space we have now.
So letās break it down:
Our current space is ~1,400 sq ft. Just over half of it is retail space, and the other half is makery + a little spot for our six homeschooled kids. And every other week, I realize these kids arenāt staying all that little. They need more room, too.
The new space? If we add up the basement along with upstairs (yes, a basement AND an upstairs!!), weāre pushing over 8,000 sq ft. Thatās not a typo, I really typed EIGHT THOUSAND SQUARE FEET. (Iām hoping you can feel my excitement and nerves in these words!) The main floor: ~3,400 sq ft. This is gonna be awesome.
3,400 sq ft for a ton more retail. Weāve heard you asking for more herbs (weāre launching a bulk herb station). Weāve heard you asking for a refillery (laundry detergent by the bucket, YES PLEASE). Weāve heard you asking for more tinctures (weāve got over 60 new ones brewing as I type this). And weāve also heard you say you want quality coffeeā¦Yes, thatās coming too. But weāll leave that nugget for a future post.
At this point, youāve scrolled to the bottom of the post to find out WHERE weāre moving. Itās not far, but itās not downtown. Besides, letās face it. Weāre not really downtown, anyway. Weāre in a cute little retail shopping center smashed between fat sandwiches and a brewery. Note the part where I mentioned it was little.
This space at 8th and RR has been so good to us. It was divinely discovered (maybe Iāll share on that later, too). But weāve grown up. And that means moving on. So, the new location? Get ready.
Itās on South Minnesota Ave. 2019 S. Minnesota Ave, specifically. You might remember this building as the former Spoke n Sport building. Right between 26th and 33rd. Itās a big change, and we get that not everyone loves change. But if you think weāre going to lose our quaint little retail vibe, just wait. Weāre not sacrificing a thing when it comes to aesthetics and design. More space means more opportunity for awesome.
Well. Now that Iāve unloaded the single biggest news weāve ever shared about our sole form of income for our family, Iām going to drink some of my husband's whiskey. Weāre in the throes of a commercial remodel, and the decisions are adding up as our bank account dwindles. Itās all good things, and we are beyond excited. But Iād be lying if I didnāt say we had anxiety about this move.
So when the time is right, weāll be asking for you all to show up. Show up at the new space. Share our posts and content about the move. And maybe stop by and tell us itās going to be okay. Lemon balm and skullcap have been keeping the sanity lately.
Now... who else is as excited about this as us?
