❤️ September is Sickle Cell Awareness Month ❤️

Sickle cell disease is an inherited blood disorder that affects red blood cells and can cause severe pain, anemia, and other serious health complications.

For children living with sickle cell disease, managing symptoms while maintaining quality of life is so important. Pediatric palliative care can provide an added layer of support alongside ongoing treatment—helping with symptom management, care coordination, and support for the whole family. 💙

This month, we honor the strength of children and families living with sickle cell disease and the healthcare teams caring for them.

For children living with serious or life-limiting illnesses, managing pain is an important part of protecting comfort, activity, and quality of life.
