The Illinois Council on Developmental Disabilities is sharing information again about upcoming Listening Sessions.

In June, the University of Illinois Extension, in partnership with Illinois Commission to End Hunger, is hosting a series of SNAP Listening Sessions across Illinois. SNAP is the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program

The goal of these sessions is to better understand how recent federal SNAP changes are impacting community members and the organizations that support them.

The sessions are part of a statewide effort to gather feedback, hear directly from communities, and better understand how SNAP changes are affecting Illinoisans.

There will be an in-person session on Tuesday, June 26. This in-person session does not require registration.

𝗣𝘂𝗲𝗿𝘁𝗼 𝗥𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗻 𝗙𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗮𝗹

This weekend is the 45th Annual Puerto Rican Festival and the 48th Annual Parade in the Humboldt Park neighborhood of Chicago, Illinois. The festival includes musical acts, art exhibitions, more than 100 vendors, and a variety of games.

New to the festival this year is “a free movie screening Thursday of “Humboldt Park Riots,” a 2025 documentary by local filmmaker Javier Vargas examining the Puerto Rican community settling in Humboldt Park and the riots of 1966.”

Following the screening tonight “there will be a 7:15 p.m. discussion panel before a 8:15 p.m. screening.” Here is an article from Blockclub Chicago with all of the information.

Ahead of this weekend's festivities, Ald. Jessie Fuentes warned of street closures, with car towing and ticketing Thursday-Monday.

Happy Pride Month! Recently speaking about Pride Month, Illinois Governor JB Pritzker said, "we will stop at nothing to ensure LGBTQ+ people are safe, welcome, and protected in our state. Illinois will always be a beacon for equality."

On May 28, 2026, the Illinois Council on Developmental Disabilities (ICDD) met in Springfield, Illinois for a quarterly meeting. Following the meeting, ICDD celebrated the career and and contributions of Janinna Hendricks, the Associate Director of Finance and Operations for ICDD. The celebration included a letter from Governor JB Pritzker. In this picture, Ryan Croke, the First Assistant Deputy Governor for Health & Human Services, presents the Governor's letter to Hendricks.
