I used to recommend low carb / keto-adjacent eating for insulin resistance. I don’t anymore.
It didn’t serve people long term. It rippled into hormone health, gut health, and eventually a weight loss plateau anyway.
Cutting carbs that low usually means cutting fiber too and fiber is what your gut bacteria actually run on. Less fiber, less diversity, less of the good stuff working in your favor.
We’re built to run on both fuel sources, not to get stuck in one lane.
That’s metabolic flexibility, a body that can efficiently switch between carbs and fat, depending on what you feed it.
These are the things I’d actually do first:
1. Ditch fast food + seed oils — no supplement outworks this
2. Walk 10 min after meals (especially the big ones).
3. Morning unfiltered sunlight + lights out by 10pm, daily
4. Hit a fiber floor of 30g/day. Cutting carbs to near zero just hides the problem, fiber actually helps your body handle them long term.
5. Deep sweat + lift HEAVY a few times a week. This may mean you hire a 1:1 personal trainer in your area. A PT will meet you right where your fitness is at and help you safely build. Worth every cent.
I’ll be teaching all of these and more, soon 👀
