πŸ«€ NATTOKINASE: ONE OF THE MOST INTERESTING ENZYMES FOR CARDIOVASCULAR HEALTH

Nattokinase is an enzyme produced during the fermentation of natto, a traditional Japanese food made from soybeans.

Research suggests nattokinase may help support cardiovascular health in several ways:

🩸 Helps break down fibrin
Fibrin is a protein involved in blood clot formation. Nattokinase has fibrinolytic activity, meaning it can help break down excess fibrin and support healthy circulation.

⏱️ Works relatively quickly
Studies have shown measurable fibrinolytic activity within hours after ingestion.

❀️ Supports healthy blood flow
By helping maintain normal blood viscosity and healthy circulation, nattokinase may support overall cardiovascular function.

πŸ“‰ May help support healthy arteries
Some studies suggest nattokinase may help support arterial health and reduce progression of plaque buildup when combined with a healthy lifestyle.

πŸ’ͺ May support healthy blood pressure
Research suggests nattokinase may influence the renin-angiotensin system, which helps regulate blood pressure and blood vessel tone.

πŸ«€ Supports healthy blood vessel relaxation
Healthy vessel flexibility and relaxation are important for circulation and blood pressure regulation.

πŸ“Š May support healthy triglyceride levels
Some research suggests nattokinase may have favorable effects on lipid metabolism and cardiovascular risk factors.

🧠 Brain health support
Healthy circulation is important for brain function. Researchers are also studying the relationship between fibrin, amyloid accumulation, and cognitive decline.

βœ… HOW TO TAKE IT

β€’ Typically taken on an empty stomach
β€’ Common doses range from 2,000–4,000 FU daily
β€’ Many practitioners recommend taking it at least 1–2 hours away from food

⚠️ Important:
Do NOT take nattokinase without speaking with your healthcare provider if you:
β€’ Use blood thinners
β€’ Have a bleeding disorder
β€’ Are preparing for surgery
β€’ Have a history of hemorrhagic stroke

As always, supplements work best when combined with:
πŸ₯— A healthy diet
🚢 Regular movement
😴 Quality sleep
🚭 Avoiding smoking
πŸ’§ Proper hydration

πŸ§ͺ BROMINE: The Hidden Halogen

Most people have heard of fluoride and chlorine.

Few have heard about bromine.

Bromine belongs to the halogen family and may compete with iodine in the body. Because iodine is essential for healthy thyroid hormone production, some researchers have raised concerns about excessive bromine exposure.

Why does this matter?

Your thyroid helps regulate:

πŸ¦‹ Metabolism
⚑ Energy levels
🧠 Brain function
🌑️ Body temperature
βš–οΈ Hormonal balance

Potential effects associated with excessive bromine exposure may include:

β€’ Thyroid dysfunction
β€’ Fatigue
β€’ Brain fog
β€’ Difficulty concentrating
β€’ Mood changes
β€’ Skin eruptions (sometimes called bromoderma)
β€’ Reduced metabolism
β€’ Neurodevelopmental concerns when iodine status is inadequate

Where can bromine be found?

🍞 Bromated flour and some commercial baked products (where still used)
πŸ”₯ Flame retardants used in some furniture, carpets, mattresses, and electronics
πŸ’¦ Hot tub and spa sanitizers
🏊 Some pool chemicals
πŸ₯€ Brominated vegetable oil (BVO) was historically used in some citrus soft drinks
🌫️ Certain pesticides and fumigants

Many common medications also contain bromine or brominated compounds. Examples include:

πŸ’Š Paxil (paroxetine)
πŸ’Š Haldol (haloperidol)
πŸ’Š Hycodan (hydrocodone/homatropine)
πŸ’Š Atrovent (ipratropium bromide)
πŸ’Š Spiriva (tiotropium bromide)
πŸ’Š Incruse Ellipta (umeclidinium bromide)

This does NOT mean these medications are unsafe or should be stopped. It simply means bromine-containing compounds are more common than most people realize.

The goal is awareness.

Understanding where bromine is found allows you to make informed choices and support healthy iodine status through a nutrient-dense diet and healthy lifestyle.

πŸ’” THE GRIEF NOBODY TALKS ABOUT
Part 2

When someone dies, people understand your grief.

They send cards.
They offer support.
They acknowledge your loss.

Family estrangement is different.

The people you love are still alive.

Yet they are no longer part of your daily life.

There is no funeral.

No public acknowledgment.

No clear ending.

Many parents and grandparents quietly carry the pain of missing special occasions, family gatherings, milestones, and everyday moments they once believed they would always be part of.

For many, the hardest part is watching life move forward from a distance.

Photos are missed.

Memories are missed.

Time is missed.

And unlike many other losses, this grief is often carried in silence.

Some parents and grandparents suffer for years, believing they are alone, when in reality millions of families are experiencing the same heartbreak.

This post is not about situations involving genuine abuse or dangerous behavior.

It is about the many loving parents and grandparents who never imagined they would lose contact with their children and grandchildren.

If this touches your heart, please know that you are not alone.

Sometimes the deepest grief comes from those who are still here. πŸ’”

πŸ’” THE SILENT HEARTBREAK OF FAMILY ESTRANGEMENT

Recent surveys suggest that roughly one-third of American adults are estranged from a family member.

To be clear, this post is not about situations involving genuine abuse, addiction, violence, or harmful behavior where distance may be necessary for safety and well-being.

This post is about the many loving parents and grandparents who find themselves suddenly cut off from their children and grandchildren with little explanation and no meaningful opportunity for reconciliation.

Many describe being blindsided.

One day they are part of their children’s lives.

The next, they are shut out.

Many are left asking the same question:

β€œWhat did I do?”

Not because they refuse to listen.

Not because they refuse to take responsibility.

But because they genuinely do not know.

Some have apologized.
Some have sought answers.
Some have attended counseling.
Some have respected every boundary asked of them.

Yet despite their efforts, the door remains closed.

What many people don’t realize is how common this has become.

Countless parents and grandparents suffer in silence, carrying shame, confusion, grief, and embarrassment. Many feel completely alone, unaware that friends, neighbors, coworkers, and entire support groups are experiencing the same heartbreak.

One of the most painful realities is that it often comes from the child they never imagined would do it.

The child they loved.
The child they sacrificed for.
The child they supported through every challenge.
The child who was once the center of their world.

Many of these parents spent decades trying to give their children a better life than they had themselves. They worked hard, provided opportunities, protected them from hardship, and gave them things they never had growing up.

Some family advocates and psychologists have suggested that, in certain families, children who were protected from every disappointment may never fully develop the skills needed to navigate conflict, disagreement, hurt feelings, and imperfect relationships. When conflict arises, distance can become easier than resolution.

Sometimes outside influences may also play a role. A spouse, partner, friend, therapist, social media group, or online community may encourage distance rather than reconciliation. Every situation is unique, but it is worth asking whether permanent separation should be the first solutionβ€”or the last.

The pain does not stop with parents.

Grandparents lose grandchildren.
Grandchildren lose grandparents.

Family traditions, stories, wisdom, memories, and connections can disappear in a single generation.

For generations, families were encouraged to work through difficulties whenever possible. Today, a growing number of psychologists, counselors, researchers, and family advocates are questioning whether permanent family cutoffs are always leading to healing.

While healthy boundaries are important, many believe we should also be helping people develop the skills to communicate, work through conflict, repair relationships, and build resilience in the face of life’s inevitable disappointments.

Sometimes healing comes through communication.

Sometimes through accountability.

Sometimes through forgiveness.

Sometimes through learning how to disagree without walking away.

Families are imperfect.

But whenever possible, healing broken relationships may serve families better than breaking them apart.

πŸ’ͺ AFTER 50, MUSCLE BECOMES MEDICINE

Many people focus on losing weight as they age, but maintaining muscle may be even more important.

After age 30, we naturally begin losing muscle mass. This process accelerates after 50 and can affect strength, balance, metabolism, bone health, and independence.

The good news? Your body can build muscle at any age.

🌿 Benefits of strength training:
β€’ Stronger bones
β€’ Better balance
β€’ Improved blood sugar control
β€’ Increased energy
β€’ Reduced risk of falls
β€’ Better brain function
β€’ Improved metabolism

You don’t have to become a bodybuilder.

Start with:
βœ… Resistance bands
βœ… Light weights
βœ… Body-weight exercises
βœ… Gardening, lifting, carrying, and staying active

Don’t forget the building blocks:
πŸ₯š Protein
β˜€οΈ Vitamin D
πŸ§‚ Magnesium
🐟 Omega-3 fats

The goal isn’t to look younger.

The goal is to stay strong enough to enjoy life, remain independent, and do the things you love for years to come.
