For many of the people we see, surgery is the last thing they want. They are looking for another option.

At Genesis Brain Institute, our medical team may explore a regenerative approach as part of an individualized plan based on the person and what they are facing.

Sometimes the most powerful words someone can hear are, there could be another option.

Genesis Brain Institute. A New Beginning of Hope.

For too long, youth mental health has been reactive. We wait until a student is struggling. Until anxiety is affecting school. Until behavior becomes a problem. Until a family is looking for answers.

The Brain Performance Zone is built around a different idea:

A Better Path Forward for Youth Mental Health.

Earlier this month, we launched a BPZ at a local school to help students proactively strengthen focus, self regulation, resilience, recovery, and brain performance.

Next month, we will be meeting with a university that shares that same vision and wants to be proactive for their students, and I am incredibly grateful for all the partners already stepping forward to help.

Technology companies. Community leaders. School leaders. Healthcare professionals. Researchers.

Different expertise, one big mission: Helping young people build stronger brains and giving them tools before they reach a crisis.

I am sure the Brain Performance Zone will look very different 12 months from now. I hope it does.

Every student teaches us something. Every school gives us feedback. Every partnership helps us make the program stronger.

It finally feels like people are ready to move beyond talking about the youth mental health crisis and start building something proactive for a better tomorrow.

That makes us smile ❤️🙏

One thing I ❤️ about our team is that we never stop learning from each other.

The work our patients don’t always see starts long before they walk into the room.

Training together. Reviewing patient progress. Learning new technology. Praying for our patients.

This is what continuous improvement looks like inside Genesis Brain Institute.

That’s Genesis Brain Institute behind the scenes ❤️🙏

One of the things I love most about our office is the love everyone has for our patients, for each other, and most importantly, for God.

Tonight was special.

Our team came together to watch Melissa publicly confess Jesus as her Lord and Savior and be baptized. ❤️

What a blessing to witness this together.

What a night. 🙏🙌

“Well done, good and faithful servant.” — Matthew 25:23 ❤️

Meet Dr. Fabian Consbruck ❤️

We are excited to welcome Dr. Fabian Consbruck to Genesis Brain Institute as our new Chief Executive Officer.

Dr. Consbruck is a licensed clinical psychologist specializing in health psychology, Latinx psychology, and neuropsychology. As an immigrant, U.S. Air Force veteran, and father of four, he brings a deeply personal understanding of why accessible, responsive mental health care matters.

He provides culturally informed psychological services in English, Spanish, and Portuguese and is licensed in both Colorado and Florida. He is also credentialed by the National Register of Health Service Psychologists.

Dr. Consbruck’s background also includes neuropsychological assessment, program development, and leadership across behavioral health and brain health settings.

At Genesis Brain Institute, he will help lead our team as we continue building programs that bring together objective measurement, compassionate care, and a deeper understanding of how the brain and body work together.

What makes Dr. Consbruck such a strong fit for Genesis is not only his clinical background, but his heart for people. He understands that great care is not just about knowledge. It is also about making people feel seen, understood, and supported.

We are grateful to welcome Dr. Fabian Consbruck to the Genesis Brain Institute team and excited for what is ahead. ❤️

Meet Gabriela Vieira, PA-C, MPAS, MA, CBIS-T, U.S. Army, Ret. ❤️

From serving as a U.S. Army Combat Medic to helping veterans and patients recover from traumatic brain injury, Gabriela has built her career around one mission:

Helping people find a path forward when the brain has been injured or is not functioning the way it should.

Gabriela is a Board Certified Physician Assistant, Certified Brain Injury Specialist Trainer and UHMS trained Advanced Hyperbaric Practitioner specializing in traumatic brain injury, PTSD, neurorehabilitation and brain health.

Her experience includes training alongside brain injury specialists at James A. Haley Veterans’ Hospital here in Tampa, serving with the Defense Health Agency TBI Center of Excellence and holding leadership with the Brain Injury Alliance.

She has also worked directly with hundreds of veterans dealing with TBI, post concussion symptoms and PTSD.

At Genesis Brain Institute, Gabriela will help us take the objective information we gather from tools like qEEG brain mapping, cognitive testing and our other diagnostics and turn that data into individualized care for the person sitting in front of us.

And there is another part of Gabriela that fits Genesis Brain Institute perfectly.

Her faith.

“Use whatever gift you have received to serve others.” 1 Peter 4:10

That spirit of service has been part of Gabriela’s career from the military to medicine, and now to the patients and families she will serve at Genesis Brain Institute in Tampa.

We are incredibly excited to welcome Gabriela Vieira to the family. ❤️

Meet Dr. Christopher Gleis ❤️

Dr. Gleis helps patients at Genesis Brain Institute who are dealing with pain explore advanced treatment options, including stem cell therapy, with a focus on supporting regeneration rather than simply masking symptoms.

His approach is highly individualized. He starts by understanding where the pain is actually coming from, because where you feel pain is not always where the problem begins. Leg pain, for example, can sometimes be coming from an issue in the back. From there, he looks at the person as a whole and which combination of treatments makes the most sense.

Dr. Gleis is a Board Certified Anesthesiologist and Pain Management Specialist at Genesis Brain Institute.

He completed his internship at Mount Sinai School of Medicine, his Anesthesiology residency at the University of Massachusetts, where he served as Chief Resident, and a Pain Management Fellowship at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center.

He also brings extensive experience in addiction medicine and uses a multimodal, non narcotic approach to pain care.

We are grateful to have Dr. Christopher Gleis as part of the Genesis Brain Institute team.

Performing only one test could mean something gets missed!

More than 800,000 children went to U.S. emergency departments for traumatic brain injuries in a single year. And today that number is increasing with e bike injuries.

Here in Tampa Bay, e bike injuries have reportedly increased 500% since 2023, with children ages 12 to 15 among those most affected.

At Genesis Brain Institute in Tampa, Patient First means we are always looking for ways to improve how we evaluate a possible concussion.

We don't believe something should continue being done a certain way simply because that's how it has always been done.

We constantly look at new research, new technology and better ways to objectively measure what may be happening.

That's why we don't depend on one test.

A concussion can affect eye movements. It can affect balance. It can affect cognitive performance. It can affect symptoms differently from one person to another.

And new research today is showing blood biomarkers could eventually give physicians another piece of information too.

Researchers recently studied 203 children with mild traumatic brain injury and measured seven blood biomarkers within 24 hours of injury.

One inflammatory marker, IL 10, was significantly higher in children who went on to experience persistent symptoms months later.

Could blood eventually become another objective layer that helps us better detect, understand and begin treating concussion? Maybe. And we will keep watching the research.

Because when it comes to something as important as the brain, we don't depend on one test.

And if your child plays sports, this is also why baseline testing can be valuable.

Having objective information from before an injury gives physicians something to compare against if a concussion is suspected later.

If you have questions about concussion or baseline testing, reach out to Genesis Brain Institute ❤️

Back to school asks a lot from our brain ❤️

Focus. Memory. Energy. Emotional control. Learning. Adjusting to a new routine.

For kids, we want to give the brain and body every opportunity we can to function at their best.

That is one reason hyperbaric oxygen therapy can be such a powerful part of a larger neurological care plan.

Inside the chamber, increased pressure helps the body take in and deliver more oxygen. Depending on the person and why we are using it, that can be an important tool to support recovery and brain health.

But my favorite part of this video has nothing to do with the technology.

Dad went in too ❤️

At Genesis Brain Institute in Tampa, our chamber is large enough for a parent or family member to be right there, which can make a huge difference for a child or anyone who feels nervous or claustrophobic.

Because great care is not only about what we do.

It is also about making people feel safe while we do it.

As the new school year begins, what are you doing to help your family’s brains perform at their best?

Some people scroll memes during lunch.

Our doctors apparently relax by looking at X rays 😂

We love how much they genuinely love what they do and of course they jumped in to help ❤️

What does your Facebook feed say about you? Is it X rays, too? 😂
