Lately I’ve been realizing how important it is to make time for the things that fill your cup.

More time in nature. More movement. More fresh air. More moments that make you feel present.

It’s easy to get caught up in work and responsibilities, but our well-being deserves just as much attention.

I’m looking forward to getting back to the things that make me feel my best.

🇺🇸 Happy 250th Birthday, America! 🇺🇸

Today we celebrate 250 years of freedom, resilience, and the incredible blessings of living in this country.

As we celebrate, I’m reminded that health and freedom have something in common. Neither happens by accident. Both are gifts worth protecting and stewarding.

So today…

❤️ Spend time with your family.
☀️ Get outside and soak up some sunshine.
🍔 Eat the burger…or better yet, the steak. Prioritize the protein.
🍓 Enjoy the fresh fruit.
💧 Drink your water.
🚶‍♀️ Go for a walk before you settle in for the fireworks.
🙏 Most importantly, take a moment to thank God for the freedoms we enjoy every day.

And if someone offers you a second scoop of ice cream? Maybe ask yourself if it’s really worth how you’ll feel tomorrow. 😉 Your body will thank you.

Remember, health isn’t about perfection. It’s about the small choices you make consistently over time. One holiday doesn’t define your health, just like one healthy meal doesn’t either.

Celebrate. Laugh. Make memories. Enjoy the day. Then tomorrow, get right back to taking care of the body God entrusted to you.

Wishing you and your family a joyful, healthy, and blessed Fourth of July.

Happy 250th Birthday, America! ❤️🤍💙🇺🇸

☀️ WHAT IF THE SUN ISN'T THE PROBLEM? ☀️

We have been taught to fear the sun.

Cover up.
Stay inside.
Apply more sunscreen.
Avoid midday light.

Yet many people spend most of the year indoors under artificial lighting, staring at screens, missing sunrise and sunset, and then wonder why they burn after their first long day in the sun.

What if part of the problem isn't the sun itself?
What if it's the fact that we've lost our relationship with it?

Our bodies were designed to interact with natural light. Sunlight helps regulate our circadian rhythm, supports vitamin D production, influences hormones, mood, sleep, and many other important processes.

And yet, sunscreen use has continued to rise over the years, while melanoma rates have also continued to rise.

That does not mean sunscreen directly causes melanoma, but it does raise an important question:

Are we relying on sunscreen as a false sense of security AND ignoring what is actually in the bottle?

Many conventional sunscreens contain chemical UV filters such as oxybenzone, octinoxate, octocrylene, homosalate, avobenzone, and others. Some of these ingredients have raised concerns around absorption into the bloodstream, hormone disruption, skin irritation, environmental impact, and breaking down in sunlight.

So maybe the conversation needs to be bigger than SPF.

Maybe we need to ask:

What are we putting on our skin?
How long are we staying in the sun because we feel “protected”?
Are we using shade, hats, and clothing wisely?
Are we supporting our body’s natural ability to adapt to sunlight?

Instead of thinking only about sunscreen, I think we should also be talking about:

☀️ Getting outside in the morning
☀️ Watching more sunrises and sunsets
☀️ Limiting artificial light exposure at night
☀️ Supporting healthy sleep
☀️ Eating nutrient-dense foods
☀️ Building sun tolerance gradually instead of going from 0 to 100
☀️ Using shade, hats, and clothing when needed

And when sunscreen is needed, I personally prefer cleaner mineral-based options with zinc oxide rather than many of the chemical ingredients commonly found in conventional sunscreens.

The goal isn't to bake in the sun.
The goal isn't to avoid protection.
The goal is to understand that our bodies were created to work WITH nature, not against it.

The sun is not the enemy.

But overexposure, poor lifestyle habits, and blindly trusting products without reading labels may be part of the bigger issue.

Flip the bottle. Read the ingredients. Ask better questions.

Maybe it’s time to start looking at the whole picture.

This weekend we pause to remember and honor the brave men and women who gave their lives in service to our country. 🇺🇸

Freedom is not free, and Memorial Day is more than a long weekend. It’s a reminder of sacrifice, courage, and the families forever changed because someone chose to serve.

As we gather with loved ones this weekend, may we also take a moment for gratitude, reflection, and prayer for those who paid the ultimate price.

At New Being Wellness, we believe true wellness includes honoring what matters most: faith, family, freedom, and community.

Most women don’t realize this…

You can have “normal” labs
and still feel:

• Wired but exhausted
• Snappy and overstimulated
• Wide awake at 2am
• Completely drained by 3pm

That’s not a motivation problem.

That’s a nervous system stuck in survival mode.

If you’re local, I’ll be offering a free 60-second Nervous System Check at the Tewksbury wellness event on March 10.

Come find out where your system is really at.
