IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT - Mount Sinai Insurance Coverage Changes

Mount Sinai Health System has confirmed changes affecting some new patients with public health insurance plans.

Beginning August 1, 2026, Mount Sinai is limiting access for new patients enrolled in certain plans, including some Medicaid, Child Health Plus, and Essential Plan coverage through EmblemHealth and Fidelis Care. Some Fidelis Medicare Advantage and ACA Marketplace plans may also be affected.

Important: These changes apply to new patients. Patients who are already established with Mount Sinai are generally not affected. Mount Sinai has also indicated that exceptions may be made for certain transplant, obstetric, and pediatric patients.

At this time, Mount Sinai has not clearly identified which specific plans are affected, and its website may still list some of these plans as accepted. EmblemHealth and Fidelis Care have also confirmed that they continue to have active contracts with Mount Sinai.

What should patients and caregivers do?

- If you are already receiving care at Mount Sinai: Contact your care team if you have concerns about your ongoing care or coverage.

- If you are a new patient: Contact Mount Sinai and your health insurance plan before scheduling an appointment to confirm that your specific plan and service are covered.

- If you are unsure about your coverage: Your insurance plan can help determine whether you need to find another in-network provider.

Because the situation remains unclear for some plans, we recommend confirming coverage directly with both your insurance company and Mount Sinai before receiving non-emergency care.

* This information is based on reporting from Crain’s New York Business and statements from Mount Sinai, EmblemHealth, and Fidelis Care. Coverage policies may change, so patients should verify their individual coverage before making appointments.
